Grammy Award winner John Paul White is set to kick off the east coast leg of his U.S. tour on May 3 in Asheville, NC, making stops at New York's famed Bowery Ballroom, Washington, DC's Union Stage, Boston's Once and others in celebration of his forthcoming solo album The Hurting Kind (out April 12 via Single Lock Records). Tony Award winner John Lloyd Young returns to Cafe Carlyle with an all-new show, February 19 to March 2. At this residency, he will perform an expertly curated set of rock and pop classics. From the raw emotionality of Roy Orbison the retro cool of 007, Young will bring the iconic room alive with a timelessness, mystery and warmth that hearkens back while heralding into the future and Broadway World's own Richard Ridge caught up with Young a few days before his opening.

Sometimes a show completely defies expectations. And in the case of CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY, that's a good thing. I settled into my seat at the Durham Performing Arts Center Tuesday night and drew forth my pen, my weapon choice, completely prepared to obliterate this production. Then the music started. Cue the ensemble. "Who can take a sunrise, sprinkle it with dew…" Suddenly there I was, smiling, strangely finding comfort in the familiar, when I heard a sound that would completely disarm me. A nine-year-old kid behind me named Blake laughed, an infectious sort of laugh that served as a bit of a wake-up call that this show wasn't calculated for me. This show, this moment, and this performance belonged to him and every other dewy-eyed kid in the audience.

The wait is almost over! Rap God, Eminem, will soon grace our shores for four massive stadium shows in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Perth in February, before travelling to Wellington in March.

On the 4th of November, the Philharmonic Orchestra of Monte-Carlo (OPMC) invited the audience on a beautiful tour of 'Les Maitres du Classicisme' with not just one performance on the program, but two. With guest conductor Gabor Takacs-Nagy at the helm and guest soloists Pablo Ferrandez (violoncello), and Jean-Efflam Bavouzet (piano) for the first performance in the morning, and Andreas Ottensamer (clarinet) in the afternoon, the particularly windy day filled with Haydn and Mozart simply felt like a gift.

Living legend Carol Channing is getting a one-of-a-kind tribute made up of over 50,000 fingerprints and videos, spawned after the success of the Harvey Milk project in San Francisco. Artist Khoi Nguyen is doing a series of prolific painting/installations of icons like Harvey Milk and Carol Channing that involves interactive technology and consists of thousands of fingerprints from celebrities to the homeless as participants.
