Seattle Public Theater (SPT) at the Bathhouse on Green Lake is pleased to announce that as of June 1st, 2014, it has relocated Executive Offices to the historic University Christian Church (UCC) at 4759 15th Ave NE, Seattle, WA 98105.

In addition to occupying two offices on the second floor of the prominent U-District landmark, SPT now shares 1752 square feet of premium dedicated rehearsal space with Seattle Choral Company.

In order to secure new lodgings following its displacement from their previous office space of seven years at the Ravenna Office Building on the eastern side of Green Lake, SPT sought the aid and expertise of Matthew Richter, cultural space liaison at Seattle Office of Arts & Culture, who brokered arrangements and connected two very compatible non-profit arts organizations in one more-than-suitable workplace.

"I am truly delighted to have Seattle Public Theater as a new tenant of University Christian Church," says Dan Smith-Derksen UCC Building Manager/Events Coordinator, "So thrilled, in fact, that I already signed my two boys up for one of their summer Youth productions!"

Within the walls of UCC, SPT joins a greater community of non-profit organizations. "Theater isn't necessarily the first thing people think of when asked about matters of peace and justice," remarks Smith-Derksen, "but we believe that the arts are an integral part of creating a more peaceful and more just world."

"Many of the kids in our Youth Program consider the Bathhouse as their second home," said SPT Managing Director Zoe Alexis Scott. "Having another space that is 'theirs' where they can feel comfortable and safe was truly a goal as we planned the expansion of our youth offerings. Because our youth shows frequently run in rep with our Mainstage shows, we have an opportunity to better serve our kids, families, teachers and actors with an off-site space that is conveniently located. We hope that families who live east of Green Lake will find a new opportunity to join us in making great theater up close with our year-round youth performances and classes."

This expansive and inviting new space will be a tremendous boon to SPT as they look forward to a busy summer Youth Program season featuring over a dozen productions like Don Quixote adapted by Anne Ludlum (Kate and Isabel) and David Quicksall (Book-It Repertory Theatre's Frankenstein) and directed by Shawn Belyea (Balagan's August: Osage County, Theatre Anonymous), a collaboration with Seattle Opera of Gilbert & Sullivan's The Mikado co-directed by Kelly Kitchens (SPT's The Understudy and Arcadia) and Seattle Opera Youth Programs Manager, Barbara Jamison, as well as Mary Zimmerman's The Arabian Nights, directed by Artistic and Education Director, Shana Bestock (SPT's Gidion's Knot).
