This summer, the King's Head Theatre is proud to present I Went To a Fabulous Party..., a new play by debut writer And Davies, both at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and at its Islington home. The play looks at the generational differences presented by the gay community, with a cast age-range of 20 years. A warm, funny, moving, honest play about being a gay man in 2015 in the UK, it explores the superficial nature of dating apps, the need for good looks and fab abs, and the most challenging coming out of all, to yourself!

A party amongst friends gets saucy when two newcomers challenge the dynamic at married couple Matt and Lee's. Booze flows, perceptions are upset and the guys get naughty in this camp, lively and fun new comedy. Apparently prudish Chris has long-held unrequited feelings for showtune-obsessed Lee, daddy (bear) to the gang Tom has recently been dumped, self-obsessed gym-bunny Paul has invited fresh-faced twink Josh along for a night he'll not forget and Matt's new colleague Darren certainly makes his presence known.

First-time playwright And Davies is a former stage manager from an array of fringe productions in London and Edinburgh before returning to a day-job in media. Director Dan Phillips' work includes the Welsh premieres of John Cameron Mitchell's Hedwig and the Angry Inch and Jason Robert Brown's The Last Five Years by Jason Robert Brown, as well as a recent season of gay-themed plays at the South Hill Park Theatre and Harvey Fierstein's On Tidy Endings/Safe Sex, starring Eggheads' CJ de Mooi, who he directs in Harvey Fierstein's International Stud at this year's Edinburgh Festival Fringe as well.

Adam Spreadbury-Maher, artistic director of the King's Head Theatre, says: "One of the main reasons why the King's Head exists is to present new work, and And Davies is a playwright of promise. We're very proud to be supporting him in these London previews and in Edinburgh - this is our first year at the Fringe Festival, and we're looking forward to facilitating conversation between brave new companies and the London theatre scene".
