The Martial Artists & Acrobats of Tianjin mix martial arts, magic, and dazzling style of Chinese acrobatics for a performance of virtuosic athleticism. The company, established in 1957, has toured from North America, throughout Europe and the Middle East; their artists have shared the stage with Ringling and Barnum & Bailey Bros. Circus, Cirque du Soleil, Big Apple Circus, Swiss Knie Bros., National Circus and UniverSoul Circus among others.

Whether infusing ballet, acrobatics and skillful gymnastics into a singular act, or spinning (or even juggling!) plates on their heads, or performing "Contortion with Carpets' Spinning," or demonstrating Chinese Kung Fu in either the Shaolin or Wudang style, the company is thrilling entertainment for the whole family.

The Martial Artists & Acrobats of Tianjin will be presented Friday, September 15, 2017 at 7:30 pm; Saturday, September 16, 2017 at 2 pm and 7:30 pm and Sunday, September 17, 2017 at 2 pm and 7 pm. Tickets are $18-$38; Premium $48

Parking is included in the price of the ticket. Harris Center is located on the west side of Folsom Lake College campus in Folsom, CA, facing East Bidwell Street.

The Martial Artists and Acrobats of Tianjin, People's Republic of China was established in 1957 as a combination of the former China Circus & Acrobats, which was originally founded in 1948.

It is considered one of the best acrobatic troupes in China with over one hundred acrobatic, magical and martial arts performers, and more than 30 representative acts, many of which have won prizes in national and international festivals and competitions. Leather Straps won the Silver Clown Award and Circus Art Development Association Award at the 13th Monte Carlo International Circus Festival. Air Acrobatics won the Golden Prize of the 10thSpring of April Friendship Art Festival in North Korea. One-Hand Handstand seized the Golden Lion Award of the 4th China National Acrobatic Competition, the Golden Award-the first prize of the Republic President at the 19th Festival of Cirque de Demain in Paris, the Honorary Gold Lion Award, and the Artistic Innovation Award at the 5th Wuqiao International Circus Festival. In 2015, the Icarian Tumbling and Jumping by 18 acrobats won the Silver Clown at the 39th Monte Carlo Circus Festival in Monaco and the First Golden Award at the 2nd China International Circus Festival in Zhuhai, China.-the list goes on and on.

The company has toured extensively to France, Japan, Australia, Finland, Norway, Denmark, Germany, Sweden, Iceland, Italy, Israel, South Korea, DPRK, Belgium, Russia and Hong Kong, and the United States of America where it has been highly praised and warmly welcomed. From 2010 through 2015, the company frequently traveled to France for four months each tour.

The Harris Center for the Arts at Folsom Lake College brings the community together to share in cultural experiences featuring the work of artists from throughout the region and around the world. Built and operated by the Los Rios Community College District, the $50 million, state-of-the-art regional performing arts center boasts three intimate venues with outstanding acoustics, an art gallery, a recording studio, elegant teaching spaces, plenty of safe parking and all the other amenities of a world-class performing arts venue. Each year the Center hosts over 400 events attracting more than 150,000 annually.
