The B Street Theatre School Tour production of Fantasy Festival XXIX is in its second week on the road. This is the 29th year that elementary and middle school students throughout northern California have submitted original plays to B Street Theatre's annual playwriting contest for young people. Out of over 400 plays submitted this year, just 8 have been selected for the tour. The resulting show presenting the winning plays will be performed at 156 assemblies in over 116 schools in northern California between March 10 and June 6, 2015, with a special public performance at the B Street Theatre on May 9.

The winning plays are: from Catheryn Gates Elementary, Roseville, BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU WISH FOR by Daniela Hirsch, and THE VOLLEYBALL GAMES by Zak Tretyakov and Mallory Jeancake; from Rocklin Elementary, Rocklin, 2100 by Eric Ryu and Owen Arraguay; THE ANNOYING BROTHER by Danaija Bryant from River Oaks Charter; from Sutterville Elementary, Sacramento, THE QUIET ROBBERY by Naomi Goodloe and Ellie Stehr; from Downieville Elementary, THIS IS HOW THE COW JUMPED OVER THE MOON by Aaron Foster, and DOGASAURUSES IN THE TIME OF THE DINOSAURS by Katie Epps; from Sargeant School, Roseville, CUPCAKE APOCALYPSE! by Neveah Boyd.

B Street Theatre's mission is to promote education and literacy, social interaction and cultural enrichment by engaging children and adults in the highest quality theatre arts and playwriting. In selecting the winning plays, the team of judges looks for originality and creativity. The plays this year take the audience on a journey - from the school playground to the moon, from prehistoric times to the inevitable future...and back again.
