Michael L. Marra to Star in OLIVER! at Strand Theater

MICHAEL L. MARRA ("Les Mis," Broadway & 4th National Tour, and "Jekyll & Hyde" 1st National Tour) stars as "Bill Sykes" in "Oliver!" at The Strand Theater in the northern suburbs of Pittsburgh, PA just 25 miles north of the city's central theatre district. While in rehearsal for this momentous event in the development of the growing Strand Theater, SHANE TRELOAR, who is playing "The Dodger" has been cast in the National Tour of "Elf" in the role of "Michael," to begin rehearsals October 7, the week following the closing of "Oliver!" And touring the Eastern United States through the holidays.

THE STRAND THEATER is thrilled to have these incredible performers headline roles in their production of "OLIVER!" alongside regional theatre performers: HUNTER BRIGGS, DANIEL CROZIER, MARY ANN MANGINI, MICHAEL MISKO ALANA RADER, and STEPHANIE RISO.

Producer/Director, RON SLANINA was brought in to direct the production. "Oliver!" is the first fully-produced large-scale musical presented in the recently renovated 287-seat Strand Theatre. The Strand has completed Phase I of a three-phased renovation project of the 100 year-old structure which sat dark and in decay for nearly 26 years until The Strand Theater Initiative formed by board president RON CARTER, to renovate and revitalize the facility and adjacent properties into a state-of-the-art Cultural Arts Center. The Initiative continues to strive to raise funds to complete the $6 Million renovations planned for Phases II & III which include it's fully appointed fly-house and 31-foot proscenium stage and expand the expand the facility to approx. 350 seats. However, they decided in this centennial year it was time to "think big," and stretch the limits of Phase I, and it has done just that with "Oliver!" which is playing to rave reviews and packed houses.

A cast filled with performers with credits from Broadway, The Guthrie, NY Public, Pittsburgh Public, Pittsburgh CLO, PICT, Pittsburgh City Theatre.
