Multi-awarded American playwright Terrence McNally's ("Kiss of the Spiderwoman," "Love! Valour! Compassion!") play "Master Class" opened on Broadway in 1995.  It presents a fictional master class at Juilliard, conducted by the legendary soprano and highly controversial figure Maria Callas, which won the Tony Award for Best Play.

When POC staged the show in Manila with Ms. Gil as the enigmatic soprano in 2008, the production scored a casting coup.  A limited engagement of 10 performances proved to be too short.  "Master Class" will be staged anew due to insistent public demand.

"('Master Class') captured the fiery, explosive temperament and passion for perfection Peerce implied - traits which Cherie Gil magnificently conveyed...," claimed Rosalinda Orosa of The Philippine Star

"Cherie Gil is in a class of her own," said Shelley Jo Saracin of Pep.Ph in an online review.

POC's production of the award-winning play runs at the Carlos P. Romulo Theater, RCBC Plaza on July 29, 30, 31, August 1, 5, 6, 7, 8, 12,13, 14 and 15, 2010. Thursday, Friday and Saturday performances at 8:00 p.m. Sunday performances at 4:00 p.m.
