Today, BET Networks announced new original scripted miniseries 'Uptown.' The three-part television event will tell the comprehensive story of Andre Harrell's iconic New York City record label, Uptown Records. Launched in 1986, following a joint venture deal with MCA, Andre Harrell's Uptown Records played a vital role in the careers of some of the most influential voices in hip hop, soul and R&B, including Heavy D & The Boyz, Russell Simmons, Lyor Cohen, Mary J. Blige, Jodeci, Father MC, Al B. Sure, Christopher Williams, Teddy Riley, Notorious B.I.G., Sean 'Diddy' Combs and many more. Each gripping episode will take viewers from the label's inception to current day, featuring the music and powerhouse hit-makers that helped mold what would come to be known as the Uptown 'sound' and define a musical era that would impact generations to come. 'Uptown' is scheduled to premiere on BET in 2020.

Radar Pictures and Gravitas Global Advisors have entered into a newly formed global partnership, which finds Gravitas Capital investing as an equity partner in Radar Pictures. The new infrastructure not only includes film and television, but also creates in-house Marketing/Branding, Music, Publishing, Merchandising, and Ancillary Divisions headed up by Gravitas Principals, Erik Hicks and Michael Markiewicz, who collectively orchestrated and facilitated the deal between the two companies. Interscope Records Co-Founder and Radar Pictures CEO Ted Field tasked his Business Development team to negotiate the new deal on behalf of Radar, alongside Gravitas Managing Partners, Vincent S. LoPriore and Steve Derby, who represented their firm. Mr. LoPriore and Mr. Derby, also CEO of SDS Capital Group, will jointly oversee all financial business matters on behalf of Radar.

MTV and Sean 'Diddy' Combs, the entertainment titan responsible for the careers of some of the world's biggest artists, are reuniting to discover the next breakout superstars in MTV's 'Making the Band.' The reality competition TV pioneer is bringing the iconic series back to MTV by popular demand. Earlier this week, Combs set off a social media firestorm by suggesting the idea of the show's return and the demand was too loud to resist. 'Making the Band' is set to bow on MTV in 2020.
