Nashville has been blessed this week with the national touring production of The Book of Mormon. Since storming onto Broadway in 2011 and walking away with eleven Tony awards that season, The Book of Mormon has crossed from being a Broadway phenomenon to becoming a pop culture staple. If you ask anyone, chances are pretty good that they've at least heard of The Book of Mormon musical. (more...)

Two weeks after conservative Tennessee voters turned the Volunteer State a deeper shade of red and some three years after I was told The Book of Mormon likely would never play the Tennessee Performing Arts Center because its plot is too outlandish, its book too profane, its tenor too irreverent, the second national touring company of the nine-time Tony Award-winning musical came to Nashville and gave audiences a much-needed jolt of electricity that elicited one of the longest, uninterrupted standing ovations I've ever witnessed in TPAC's Jackson Hall. THE BOOK OF MORMON, winner of nine Tony Awards including Best Musical, has announced a lottery ticket policy for the national tour, which begins December 2 at the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County and plays a limited 2 week engagement through December 14. In Miami, the production will conduct a pre-show lottery at the box office, making a limited number of tickets available at $25 apiece - cash only. (more...)
