Disney's Newsies is a Tony Award-winning musical derived from the motion picture of the same title. Produced for the first time in Manila, it has commanded the day's headlines and kept a viewing public abuzz with excitement. We can assume Disney's ubiquitous brand had preceded its product, given the film's relative failure to draw critical and commercial acclaim in the early '90s. Considering its cult following after the release of the home video, it makes sense to bring musical theater back to its logical milieu where live performance of a Broadway musical is unparalleled. This production has been every bit as advertised: it's electric, witty, and poignant.

Globe Live and 9 Works Theatrical are bringing the Tony Award-winning Broadway musical Disney's “Newsies” to Manila at the Globe Iconic Store Bonifacio High Street Amphitheater, Bonifacio Global City (BGC), on July 7-9, 14-16, 21-23, and 28-30, 2017 at 8:00 p.m.

His story is quite popular, not just among literature fans, because it served as inspiration to some TV shows, movies, and, of course, musicals. Scrooge is the grumpy, greedy old man who had a change of heart during Christmas day, after being visited by three Ghosts of Christmas.

Jef Flores, the lead star of 9 Works Theatrical's production of Jonathan Larson's TICK, TICK...BOOM!, totally relates to Jon, the character he's currently playing. Jon is an aspiring Broadway musical composer who's worried about the career choices he made especially now he's turning 30.

Two original Filipino musicals 'Sa Wakas,' which features the songs of the alternative rock band Sugarfree, and 'Rak of Aegis,' which highlights the songs popularized by the rock band 'Aegis,' have succeeded and won the hearts of many nonregular theatergoers, especially the Pinoy rock music fans. 9 Works Theatrical and Globe Live's rock opera AMERICAN IDIOT by Green Day follows the same winning formula. Since the show opened two weeks ago--staying true to the producers' intended goal--it has been attracting audiences, including nonregular theatergoers, to its open-air venue at the Globe Iconic Store in Bonifacio Global City.

Made possible by the producers of the high-octane rock musical AMERICAN IDIOT, Globe Telecom and 9 Works Theatrical, BroadwayWorld.com (BWW) readers Maxine Dimaano, Aundrea Bunyi, Jerico Ranin, and Lemuel Villanueva, together with their guests, scored tickets to the show via a digital lottery. This hilariously naughty satire, based on E.L. James' novel "Fifty Shades of Grey," runs at the Carlos P. Romulo Auditorium in Makati City from Monday, February 12, to Sunday, February 28 (weekends only). It previously played 453 performances on Off-Broadway's The Elektra Theatre (300 W. 43rd Street).
