"Newsies" features a Tony Award-winning score, featuring the music by eight-time Academy Award winner Alan Menken and lyrics by Jack Feldman, and a book by four-time Tony Award winner Harvey Fierstein.
Set in New York City at the turn of the century, "Newsies," inspired by the real-life "Newsboy Strike of 1899," is the rousing tale of Jack Kelly, a charismatic newsboy and leader of a ragged band of teenaged "newsies," who dreams only of a better life far from the hardship of the streets. Playing Jack is recording artist, singer, and actor Gian Magdangal. Joining him as part of the newsboys are Jef Flores, Daniel Drilon, Tory Cortez , Luis Marcelo, and Alex Diaz. Also in the cast are Danielle Chopin, Greg Dulcie, Pinky Marquez, Raymund Concepcion, Franz Imperial, Ariel Reonal, Joni Galeste, Melissa Bell, Ian Ocampo, Ronelson Yadao, Erick Arenas, Jourdan Bartolome, Mark Anthony Grantos, Jim Ferrer, Chesko Rodriguez, Kendrick Ibasco, Anton Posadas, Stephen Viñas, Clark dela Riva, Jon Abella, MC dela Cruz, Vyen Villanueva, and Jan Mayo.
