Stratford Festival to Begin Performances in July

The Ontario government has issued its guidance for attendance at outdoor performing arts events, paving the way for the opening of the Stratford Festival’s 2021 season. According to these guidelines, the Stratford Festival will be able to accommodate 100 people (or 25% capacity) in each of its new outdoor canopies.
Why Not Theatre's RISER Expands To Edmonton

In partnership with Edmonton-based theatre company Common Ground Arts Society (CGAS), RISER Edmonton will support the development and production of four Edmonton-based shows each year, with participants receiving enough in-kind resources to help reduce their costs of production by one third, on average. Participants will also undergo a year-long mentorship and training program with a focus on developing producing skills.

In light of the current recommendations and directives from the government and public health agencies, Why Not Theatre and the Shaw Festival regret to announce that the 2020 production of Mahabharata is impossible to realize in the current circumstances and must therefore be postponed. Why Not Theatre and The Shaw are committed to bringing Mahabharata to a future Festival season and are exploring a number of scheduling options.

Produced by Kidoons and WYRD Productions, BOOM begins performances on Thursday, January 9 for a limited engagement through Sunday, February 23. Press Opening is Wednesday, January 15 at 7:00 pm. The performance schedule is Tuesday - Friday at 7:00 pm; Saturday at 2:00 pm & 7:00 pm; Sunday at 2:00 pm. Performances are at 59E59 Theaters (59 East 59th Street, between Park and Madison).
