Melbourne's most dynamic and exciting new performance venue, the BRUNSWICK BALLROOM is thrilled to announce that due to demand, four new shows have been added to the Melbourne season of Coral Browne: This Effing Lady, currently playing at the Brunswick Ballroom as part of the Melbourne International Comedy Festival.

Paul Robeson (1898-1976), actor, singer, athlete, civil rights activist and humanitarian is the inspiration for The Robey Theatre Company and the man from whom The Robey gets its name. On Friday, April 9, 2021 at 6:00 p.m. PDT, The Robey will have a virtual birthday celebration for Paul Robeson.

Grammy Award winning Bass-Baritone Mark S. Doss has announced a new weekly concert series, live streaming on Facebook each Wednesday at 7 pm Eastern. As Mark Steven celebrated a year of broadcasting his popular and uplifting Heart and Soul streamed performances, he felt compelled to serve audiences with a new series.

Nancy Manocherian's the cell theatre (Artistic Director Kira Simring) will host in-person street-side performances featuring the performers captured in Rachel Rampleman's exhibit LIFE IS DRAG. On Saturday March 13 at 5:00 PM Darlinda Just Darlindaand Mimi Silk will perform in the windows of the cell's space on 23rd street.

In 2019, Amanda Muggleton packed her bags for the UK to star in the London premiere season of the outrageously titled play Coral Browne: This F**king Lady!

The event will feature just-added performances & appearances from Tiffany Haddish, Usher, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Charlamagne Tha God, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Susan Sarandon & Pete Buttigieg.

Based on the original book of the 1921 musical revue Shuffle Along, the story focuses on the challenges of mounting the original production of Shuffle Along and its effect on Broadway and race relations.

The next installment of The Robey Theatre Company's online series of Evening Conversations will be on Friday, February 19, 2021 at 6:00 p.m. PST, presented via Zoom.

The Arts Legacy REMIX “Lift Every Voice & Sing” will feature OperaTampa, Patel Conservatory Advanced Chamber Ensemble, and other artists.

Today, Trojan Jamaica/BMG officially released the powerful Until The Ribbon Breaks' re-imagination of Toots and The Maytals' 'Got To Be Tough' (the title track of the album released in August via Trojan Jamaica / BMG).

There is much work to be done for the equity of Blacks in theater and when Broadway reopens, hopefully, it will be a new and truly inclusive Black Broadway. The book, Black Broadway: African Americans on the Great White Way, is a thorough examination of the history of the Black contribution to Broadway. The publishers of Black Broadway, Square One Publishing, have released a Kindle version and in honor of Black History Month, the ebook is available for $1.99 for the month of February. 

Today we're learning all about ground-breaking African-American playwright Lorraine Hansberry- best known as the first African-American female author to have a play performed on Broadway.

The Robey Theatre Company will present an online reading of Othello by William Shakespeare on Sunday, February 28, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. PST.

Next week, Jefferson Performing Arts Society presents a one-man show about the life of the great Paul Robeson.  The show is offered for two performances only on Saturday, January 23 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, January 24 at 2:00 p.m. at the Jefferson Performing Arts Center at 6400 Airline Drive in Metairie. 

Santa Monica Playhouse and Stogie Kenyatta present Kenyatta's acclaimed solo show about African-American artist/activist Paul Robeson, a powerful and poignant, entertaining and educational, heartfelt and humorous evening of theatre streaming live on January 9 and a playback will be available throughout January 2021. Honoring the Brotherhood of Man for Martin Luther King.

Jefferson Performing Arts Society is proud to announce its 43rd season lineup, featuring two New Orleans area premieres. The spring season kicks off with a one-man show about the life of the great African-American bass-baritone, scholar, actor, and athlete Paul Robeson, followed by the psychological drama One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest.

The Arts Council of Princeton has announced acclaimed fine art photographer Robin Resch as its Winter 2021 Anne Reeves Artist-in-Residence. During her residency, Resch will continue work locally on her series, aptly named Taking Pause, in response to the challenges of this year and the COVID-19 pandemic.

Carmen Morgan and Futaba Shioda have been named the 2020 recipients of the Paul Robeson Award by the Actors’ Equity Association and Actors’ Equity Foundation. These two individuals exemplify the principles to which Robeson dedicated his life. 

For twenty-six years, The Robey Theatre Company has made its mission the telling of the stories of the Black global experience on stage. It is now also doing so in print. The Robey Theatre Company Playwright Series currently has nine play scripts in publication, available in paperback edition and also in Kindle format.
