It may be true that in love and music, all is fair, but having a legal license helps! Theatrical licensor Music Theatre International (MTI) has secured licensing rights to the Broadway hit, The Band's Visit.

Everything's coming up Tonys! Spring has sprung, awards season has begun, and the latter is all that really matters to Broadway fans everywhere. Earlier this week, Katharine McPhee and Leslie Odom Jr. announced the 2018 Tony nominations, celebrating the best of the 2017-18 theatre season (and what a season it's been!). Leading the pack were Mean Girls and SpongeBob SquarePants: The Musical with 12 nominations, followed by Angels in America, Rodgers & Hammerstein's Carousel andThe Band's Visit with 11 and Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, Parts One and Two with 10. BroadwayWorld has been checking in with Tony Award nominees all morning! We caught up with the nominated cast of The Band's Visit on Broadway to get their first reactions at being up for Tony Awards this season.

The Eugene O'Neill Theater Center has awarded multi-discipline creative artist Lin-Manuel Miranda the 18th Monte Cristo Award. An alumnus of the O'Neill, Miranda's first professional production was at the O'Neill's National Music Theater Conference with In The Heights in 2005. A gala dinner featuring a conversation with the honoree was held last night, Monday, April 30, 2018. Check out photos from the event below!

Producers Paul Blake and Sony/ATV Music Publishing announce that the Tony & Grammy Award-winning Broadway hit Beautiful-The Carole King Musical, about the early life and career of the legendary and groundbreaking singer/songwriter, will return by popular demand to the Connor Palace at Playhouse Square for two weeks, June 5-17. Producers Paul Blake and Sony/ATV Music Publishing announced today that Melissa Benoist, who currently steals the screen in the title role of The CW's hit show, 'Supergirl', will make her Broadway debut as Carole King this summer in Broadway's hit, Beautiful-The Carole King Musical. Ms. Benoist will begin performances on June 7 and will play a limited run through August 4th, 2018.

Theatre Forward and Chairman John Thomopoulous just led a celebration to support American theatre at the annual Chairman's Awards Gala last night, April 9th at The Pierre New York (2 East 61st Street at Fifth Avenue). The Chairman's Awards Gala supports the work of Theatre Forward, currently celebrating its 40th Anniversary season, which is dedicated to advancing American theatres and its communities through its Educating Through Theatre and Advancing Strong Theatre initiatives.

The hit new Broadway musical THE BAND'S VISIT will launch a digital lottery on Friday, March 16, 2018, making a limited number of $40 tickets available for all performances at www.thebandsvisitlottery.com.

Composers' Choice paid tribute to celebrated composers of the stage with a fabulous evening of unexpected songs, honoring Orin Wolf, John Styles, and John Hart for their contribution to American musical theater.

The Actors Fund announced today that The Band's Visit has added a Special Benefit Performance for The Actors Fund. This benefit performance will be held on Sunday, February 25, 2018 at 7:30 pm at the Barrymore Theatre (243 West 47th Street).

Ghostlight Records will celebrate the release of the original Broadway cast recording of THE BAND'S VISIT, the best reviewed musical of the season, with an exclusive in-store performance and fan photo-op at Barnes & Noble on the album's release date, Friday, February 23 at 4:00 PM. Tony Shalhoub, Katrina Lenk and the cast - with the show's composer and lyricist David Yazbek joining as special guest - will commemorate the release of the album on CD.

The Commercial Theater Institute (CTI) and Executive Director Tom Viertel have announced speakers for its upcoming 3-Day Intensive, taking place from Friday, March 9th through Sunday, March 11th. This year will include a special partnership with The Band's Visit highlighting the producers, creatives, and marketing team behind the hit show.
