Center Theatre Group is marking the ninth anniversary of DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals) with “WET: A DACAmented Journey” written and performed by Alex Alpharaoh and directed by Brisa Areli Muñoz. Alpharaoh's deeply personal work will be available free to the public on the Center Theatre Group's Digital Stage.

Crossroads Festival Theatre consists of two installments: Fall Festival and Spring Festival, running September 22 – October 10, and June 7 to June 26, 2022, respectively.  

NNR - New Normal Rep will continue its inaugural season with Lines in the Dust,by Pulitzer Prize-nominated and Obie Award-winning playwright Nikkole Salter (In the Continuum, Carnaval), streaming  on demand July 8 through August 8.

Ojai Playwrights Conference (OPC) will be presenting their virtual celebration CONNECTIONS benefiting their 2021 season June 12, 2021. CONNECTIONS will feature new or adapted works by playwrights: Luis Alfaro, Jon Robin Baitz, Father Greg Boyle, Bill Cain, Culture Clash, Stephen Adly Guirgis, Danai Gurira, Samuel D. Hunter, David Henry Hwang, Julia Izumi, James Morrison and his son Seamus Morrison, Jeanine Tesori and Charlayne Woodard. Performers include Brian Cox, Eileen Galindo, Tzi Ma, Rose Portillo, Samantha Quan, John C. Reilly, Israel López Reyes, Nikkole Salter, Jimmy Smits, and Phillipa Soo; as well as some of the playwrights performing their own pieces.

A starry cast, some of whom will perform their own work, has been set for the Ojai Playwrights Conference presentation of “Connections,” a virtual celebration to benefit the OPC 2021 season, on Saturday, June 12 at 5 p.m. Pacific Time/ 8 p.m. Eastern Time.

Center Theatre Group remembers George Floyd with an exploration of his legacy and impact on America through a unique performance and discussion of his murder's influence on the American Theatre and the larger society. “George Floyd: The Father of the Reimagined America,” is based on a poem written by John Lee Gaston White, adapted for the screen by John Lee Gaston White and Lakisha May; and directed and produced by Lakisha May.

The Ojai Playwrights Conference is presenting “Connections,” a virtual celebration to benefit the OPC 2021 season, on Saturday, June 12 at 5 p.m. Pacific Time/ 8 p.m. Eastern Time. A minimum donation of $20 is requested to watch this special 90-minute show.

In April 2021, Parent Artist Advocacy League and Blackboard Plays announced the 1st Annual Black Motherhood and Parenting New Play Festival, the four works that comprise the lineup, and the partner theatres with whom they are producing the plays: Bishop Arts Theater Center, Detroit Public Theater, Oregon Shakespeare, and St. Louis Rep.

The final two writers in the collaboration between Harlem9, Harlem Stage, and The Lucille Lortel Theatre (co-producers) have been named.  Kristen Adele Calhoun and Mildred Lewis will close out the series with 15-day streaming periods on YouTube in May and June 2021. 

Luna Stage premieres The Vaccine Monologues, a virtual gallery of theatrical moments inspired by Covid immunization. Playwrights, physicians, activists, and actors share stories real and imagined, reflecting on experiences with the 'Fauci ouchie,' or the shot that can change it all.

HERE I AM, produced by The Lab and GU Theater & Performance Studies, is a generational story on how slavery and racism impacted Short-Colomb’s family, including her heavenly mothers.

New Normal Rep is continuing with its inaugural season presenting Two Sisters and a Piano, written and directed by Pulitzer Prize-winning and Tony-nominated playwright Nilo Cruz (Anna in the Tropics). Streaming  on demand April 21 - May 23.

For more than four decades, The St. Louis Black Rep’s founder and Producing Director, Ron Himes has dedicated his life to staging productions from the African American perspective to heighten the social and cultural awareness of audiences in the St Louis area and beyond. He has produced and directed more than 200 plays at The Black Rep, but his life’s work goes well beyond producing, directing and staging theatrical events. The Black Rep’s award winning education programs that he created provides training and experience for children, teens and interns seeking education and a career in the arts. These programs provide an opportunity for youth to explore their talents and chart a course for the future.

New Jersey Theatre Alliance and ArtPride New Jersey, the states two largest arts service organizations, will partner to bring the arts community together through a virtual gathering built around reflecting, healing, and learning while working toward a more equitable, just, and anti-racist arts and cultural sector.

New Jersey Theatre Alliance (“the Alliance”) and ArtPride New Jersey have partnered to offer a two-day virtual gathering, Creating Change: Moving Toward Equity, Justice, and Anti-racism in the New Jersey Arts Community. The event will take place virtually on April 22 and 23, 2021.

The theater community just reunited in Times Square exactly one year to the day since Broadway shut-down for 'We Will Be Back,' a special live pop-up experience and commemoration of Broadway's 'lost year.'

First Stage has announced the creation of Amplify - First Stage's BIPOC Virtual Short Play Series, to be developed and produced throughout Spring 2021. In this new series, three short plays will be created by BIPOC playwrights that center on the young person's point or view, amplifying the voices of these artists and young people.
