The character is described as hearing impaired and the first openly gay villain to be featured on the small or big screen. Steppenwolf Theatre Company continues its 2014/15 Subscription Season with the Chicago premiere production of Marie Antoinette, a modern, witty portrayal of the young queen of France by David Adjmi and directed by Robert O'Hara. The cast features ensemble members Alana Arenas as Marie Antoinette, Tim Hopper as her husband Louis XVI and Alan Wilder as Sheep. Ericka Ratcliff takes on the role of Yolande de Polignac and Mrs. Sauce replacing previously announced ensemble member Ora Jones who had an artistic scheduling conflict. (more...)

TACT/The Actors Company Theatre is pleased to announce the cast and creative team for Abundance, the 1990 play by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Beth Henley (Crimes of the Heart). An epic tale of friendship set against the backdrop of the sweeping American West, Abundance will be directed by TACT Co-Artistic Director Jenn Thompson, who directed last season's production of William Inge's Natural Affection. Performances begin at Theatre Row's Beckett Theatre (410 West 42nd Street - between 9th & 10th Avenues) on Tuesday, February 17, 2015. Opening night is set forSunday, March 1 at 6:00pm. MCC THEATER has announced complete casting for the New York premiere of Jennifer Haley's The Nether directed by Anne Kaufman. Ben Rosenfield, memorably of the final two seasons of "Boardwalk Empire," and rising talent Sophia Anne Caruso will take on the roles of Woodnut and Iris, respectively. As BroadwayWorld previously reported, the new American play, Hand to God, will open on Broadway on April 7, 2015 at the Booth Theatre (222 West 45th Street), marking the Broadway debut of playwright Robert Askins. McCollum's three years of development on this play include its previous acclaimed productions at the Ensemble Studio Theatre (EST) in 2011 and its more recent Off-Broadway debut at MCC Theater in 2014. Hand to God will again be directed by Moritz von Stuelpnagel in his Broadway debut with previews beginning at the Booth Theatre on March 12, 2015 ahead of the April 7th opening. 'Body of Words' by Vincent Sessa is set in a rented bungalow on a deserted stretch of beach on a summer night into morning. Two strangers meet -- a rugged, powerful middle-aged man and a young, athletic man who might be a student. A sexual contract is established between them but suspicion and violence ensue. Yet by morning an inseparable bond has joined the men together and they are changed forever. The play is evocative of the homecoming of Odysseus. The author, Vincent Sessa, is known for profoundly nuanced plays about men and women in personal, often political struggle.
