Acclaimed singer/PBS-TV host Cristina Fontanelli (www.cristinafontanelli.com) will perform selections from her concert, 'The Great International Songbook" (plus wine reception) on Sunday, May 15, 2016 at 4:00 PM at the Engelman Recital Hall at the Baruch College Performing Arts Center, 55 Lexington Avenue, in New York City. Ms. Fontanelli's third-annual concert highlights songs of many countries to promote world peace through the universal language of music. This June, the Philadelphia Boys Choir returns to the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts to showcase their talent and delight audiences with favorites and premieres of exciting new works. Slated for Saturday, June 4 at 4:00 pm, the concert will preview the repertoire for the Choir's upcoming summer tour to Cuba, including a new arrangement of Gershwin's Cuban Overture with lyrics written by acclaimed poet Richard Blanco. The concert will also include traditional numbers and feature the world premiere of Genesis by composer Robert S. Cohen, and performances by former choir member and recent contestant on The Voice, Nate Butler and local musical theatre star Ben Dibble. The concert will alsoinclude a ceremony honoring founder and legendary artistic director emeritus, Dr. Robert G. Hamilton, on his 80 th birthday. (more...)

Lincoln Center's Spring Gala took place on Monday, April 11, at Rose Hall at Jazz at Lincoln Center. Steven A. Kandarian and MetLife were honored. There were 470 guests and nearly $3 million was raised. Since 1997, MetLife's sponsorship of Live From Lincoln Center has been instrumental to the series' success, and has enabled Lincoln Center to bring this program to hundreds of millions of people across the nation, building new audiences for the arts. Donizetti's L'Elisir d'Amore returns to the Met stage on March 10 starring Polish soprano Aleksandra Kurzak and Italian tenor Vittorio Grigolo as the two young lovers, Adina and Nemorino. Italian conductor Enrique Mazzola makes his company debut leading performances of Bartlett Sher's 2012 staging. Alessandro Corbelli sings the role of Dulcamara, the loveable con man who sells the “magic elixir” of love, along with Adam Plachetka as the sergeant Belcore, who attempts to court Adina. Mario Chang and Pietro Spagnoli sing the last two performances on April 2 and 7 as Nemorino and Dulcamara respectively. (more...)
