"Kiss Me, Kate," Cole Porter's dazzling musical that jumbles theatre-folk backstage romances with Shakespeare, is the Tryon Little Theater's next offering, to play the Tryon Fine Arts Center February 15-18.

Warner Bros. Television and DC Entertainment today announced that Gotham executive producers John Stephens and Danny Cannon will explore the world of Metropolis in an all-new live-action drama series to air exclusively on the upcoming DC-branded direct-to-consumer digital service, operated by Warner Bros. Digital Networks. Metropolis has received a direct-to-series order for a first season of 13 episodes and will go into production later this year for a debut on the service in 2019.

With romance, comedy, sophistication, and behind-the-scenes hijinks, 'Kiss Me Kate' is an enduring crowd-pleaser, combining the irreverent humor of two brilliant writers: William Shakespeare and Cole Porter.

Last night's 2017 Blue Star Awards Ceremony gave hundreds of area teens an opportunity to perform musical numbers on Starlight's Cohen Community Stage while their teachers, peers, parents and others cheered them from the seats. Yesterday, high school theatre students and instructors across metropolitan Kansas City and in neighboring communities received the good news that they had received nominations for the 15th Anniversary Blue Star Awards from Starlight Theatre. Starlight leaders, staff and board members personally delivered 132 nominations to 42 area high schools. On Thursday night, May 25, winners of the 2017 Blue Star Awards will receive their honors in a public ceremony on Starlight Theatre's Cohen Community Stage.
