Sam and Dinah are living the American dream in 1950s suburbia. Beau and Autumn are celebrating their anniversary over dinner and drinks. But there’s one problem… neither couple is happy. Beau and Autumn can’t seem to look up from their phones and Sam and Dinah can’t stand to be in the same room with each other. Leonard Bernstein’s Trouble in Tahiti and Christopher Weiss and John de los Santos’ Service Provider may not be filled with marital bliss, but these one-act crowd pleasers are sure to keep you on the edge of your seat all night long. 

The lyrical season will feature 12 titles, such as Turandot, by Busoni, Gianni Schicchi, by Puccini, Le Comte Ory, by Rossini, among others. The program also includes ballets, cinema and music, and concerts in a year in which São Pedro establishes partnerships with the Cinemateca, the São Paulo Companhia de Dança and guest orchestras.

And she’s done just that for her current tour, which will bring her to Symphony Hall for her eighth appearance with the Celebrity Series of Boston, this time with an orchestra of local musicians, on February 27.

The opera season at Theatro Sao Pedro, will begin with the premiere of Riders to the Sea, by Vaughan Williams, considered the greatest British symphonist. With musical direction by Claudio Cruz and scenic direction by Caetano Vilela, the opera will be preceded by the instrumental work Fantasia on a Theme by Thomas Tallis, by the same composer.

The UK and English Language première of Wendy Beckett's Sappho,  a new play inspired by the famous Greek poet integrating the original poetry with contemporary music and dance, will première at Southwark Playhouse Elephant on 8 May, with previews from 3 May and run to 25 May.
