Workshop Announced For New Musical Based On The Life Of Bob Marley

Producers, theatre owners and investors gathered today to watch a workshop production of a brand-new musical based on the life of the global icon Bob Marley. The musical which features the singer's greatest hits and has the full backing of the Marley family is written by Lee Hall and will be directed by Dominic Cooke. The producing team is Playful Productions, Stage Play and Kwame Kwei Armah.

To mark the month anniversary of Toni Morrison's passing, audiences are invited to the Young Vic on Thursday 5 September to join Kwame Kwei-Armah in reading aloud their favourite passages and quotes from her work and life. The evening will be a moment to listen to and to celebrate the words of this remarkable woman - one of the most influential and important writers of her generation.

As someone who has never quite realised the appeal of going clubbing, imagine my fear as I walked into the auditorium of the Young Vic, where a central island was occupied by audience members dancing. Memories of my first night of Freshers at university sprung to mind, where I awkwardly stood in the corner of a club with a cider tightly clutched in my hands. However, in stark contrast to such reminiscences, and following a run at the Manchester International Festival, Tree is a heart-pounding 90 minutes of history that tells the story of a young man's search into his South African heritage and, in turn, the history of that land itself.

The Citizens Theatre has announced that the critically acclaimed Nora: A Doll's House, written by Stef Smith, will be staged at the Young Vic in Spring 2020. Premiered at Tramway, Glasgow in March 2019 as part of the Citizens Theatre's Citizens Women season, this will be a new co-production between the Citizens Theatre and the Young Vic.
