A widowed New York college professor, Gene, is in a long distance relationship with a woman in California. He wants to marry and move to California, where his girlfriend has her medical practice and is raising her children. Gene's mother is sympathetic although aware of the toll it could take on his father. Family tensions arise as his father disowned his sister for marrying a Jewish man. When his mother suddenly dies, Gene's plans are thrown into disarray. He has lived in the shadow of his towering father, who is expecting him to stay and watch over him. Gene must decide for himself if he'll stay to care for his father or finally move on with his life. (more...)

Premium TV network EPIX announced today it will go into production on Get Shorty from MGM Television. Created and executive produced by Davey Holmes ('Shameless,' 'In Treatment,' 'Damages'), the one hour drama series is a reimagining of Elmore Leonard's 1990 New York Times best-selling novel of the same name. La Cage Aux Folles stormed the Broadway stage in 1983, grabbing nine Tony Award nominations and six wins, including Best Musical, Best Score, and Best Book. Based on Jean Poiret's 1973 French play, La Cage Aux Folles was first brought to the big screen in 1978 and then the 1996 American film The Birdcage starring Robin Williams, Nathan Lane, and Gene Hackman. Ephrata Performing Arts Center will present this French-adapted classic at EPAC's Sharadan Bigler Theatre. The production opens on July 23, 2015, and runs through August 8, 2015. (more...)
