Emma Fielding will play the title role of Emma Bovary in The Massive Tragedy of Madame Bovary! this spring. The production which will open at the Everyman from 5 to 27 February will then play at co-producing partners Bristol Old Vic, Nuffield, Southampton and Royal & Derngate, Northampton. Joining Fielding will be John Nicholson and Javier Marzan of Peepolykus and Jonathan Holmes who have the unenviable challenge of playing all the remaining roles in Flaubert's epic tale. (more...)

The Everyman & Playhouse's 2016 spring season will feature love, loyalty, betrayal, oppression, transcendence, motherhood, brotherhood, tragedy and comedy. Gemma Bodinetz will direct a new adaptation of Madame Bovary with Peepolykus at the Everyman, while at the Playhouse there will be a major revival of Frank McGuinness's Observe the Sons of Ulster Marching Towards the Somme. There are also partnerships with National Theatre of Scotland and Told By An Idiot on I Am Thomas, and DaDaFest and Turf Love for Unsung, a new production about Liverpool radical Edward Rushton. Following the runaway success of Until They Kick Us Out in March this year, Young Everyman Playhouse (YEP) will bring the play back to the Everyman stage in the week before the General Election. The production shines a light on our political system through the prism of young people; how their voice can be heard and the political revolution behind the Millennial generation. The fictional 'Really Sound Party' has already had its first success, inspiring one of the young people to stand for MP in Wavertree on May 7. A major revival of Willy Russell's Educating Rita will open the Playhouse's 2015 Spring Season. The production, directed by Artistic Director Gemma Bodinetz, will mark the play's 35th anniversary and will star Leanne Best as Rita and Con O'Neill as Frank. Following a remarkable first year, the Everyman season will begin with Associate Director Nick Bagnall's fresh take on A Midsummer Night's Dream. The second half of the season is marked by two world premieres, both screen to stage adaptations; a never-before seen Arthur Miller screenplay The Hook at the Everyman and the first ever stage adaptation of a Coen Brothers' film will see The Hudsucker Proxy come to life on the Playhouse stage. Liverpool Everyman and Playhouse Artistic Director Gemma Bodinetz will direct Sean O'Casey's Juno and the Paycock in a major co-production with Bristol Old Vic. The cast will be led by Niamh Cusack as the eponymous Juno and Des McAleer as her husband Jack Boyle.
