Pride Films and Plays Sets Cast for SOME MEN, Running 8/14-9/13

Pride Films and Plays has announced an exciting cast for the Chicago premiere of Some Men by Terrence McNally. The cast includes PFP Artistic Associates Patrick Rybarczyk and Nelson Rodriguez, and Artistic Ensemble Members David Besky, Sam Button-Harrison, Tom Chiola, Edward Fraim, and Jude Hansen. They are joined by Ben Burke, Jeremy Sonkin, and Robert Ayres to become an ensemble of 10 playing over three dozen characters. (more...)

Pride Films and Plays to Present Terrence McNally's SOME MEN, Begin. 8/14

Pride Films and Plays will present the Chicago premiere of Terrence McNally's Some Men. Some Men is Tony Award-winner Terrence McNally at his best. Alternately hilarious, painful, and sexy, Some Men presents a kaleidoscope of gay characters set within some of the events that bent the arc of gay history in America. Our cast will play over three dozen characters whose stories parallel, and whose histories are linked. Scenes are set in 1969 during Stonewall, in St. Vincent's at the height of AIDS, and on a beach in the Hamptons in the 1920s and again 70 years later. There is also a scene set in an AOL chat room, another in a bathhouse, and many other locations which provide the texture to our lives. The play begins and ends with a contemporary gay wedding, relating interconnecting stories of generations of gay men in New York City. (more...)

Bailiwick Chicago to Present PARADE 10th Anniversary Staged Concert, 5/12

In honor of the 10th anniversary of Bailiwick Repertory's Jeff Award-winning production of PARADE, Bailiwick Chicago will present a special one night only staged concert of the musical on Monday, May 12, 2014 at 7:30 pm at The Mercury Theater, 3745 N. Southport Ave. in Chicago. Original Director David Zak and Music Director Alan Bukowiecki (both Jeff Award winners) return once again to helm the Tony Award-winning drama by Pulitzer Prize winner Alfred Uhry (Driving Miss Daisy, The Last Night of Ballyhoo), with music and lyrics by Jason Robert Brown (The Last Five Years, The Bridges of Madison County, Songs for a New World) and co-conceived (and directed on Broadway) by Harold Prince. Pride Films and Plays Launches Proud of PFP Campaign

Pride Films and Plays (PFP) announces the launch of 'Proud of PFP,' a social media driven fundraising and marketing campaign. Running during Gay Pride Month, June 1-30, with a goal of 300 gifts in 30 days, PFP will encourage donations via the web on Facebook and Twitter. Using the interactive #ProudofPFP, supporters will be urged to post what they are proud of or why they have pride in the work done by PFP. (more...)

Vermont Pride Theater at Chandler announces its 4th annual Summer Pride Festival of LGBT plays in Randolph, Vermont, July 18-20 and 25-27. This season it will offer full productions of three exciting scripts, none of which has been presented before in Vermont. These will be directed and performed by an ensemble of Equity and non-Equity theater artists from across the nation, and presented in Randolph's historic Chandler Music Hall, listed on the National Historic Register.
