Actors Equity and City of Los Angeles Celebrate Theo Bikel's 100th Birthda

In recognition of Theo Bikel's enduring cultural legacy and many year leadership of the Actors’ Unions, the city of Los Angeles has decided, by a unanimous vote by City Council, to name the square in front of the SAG-AFTRA building “The Theodore Bikel Square for Peace and Justice”.

Attorneys representing producer Garth Drabinsky filed suit against Actors’ Equity Association for defamation. Actors' Equity had placed the Paradise Square producer on the company's Do Not Work list due to 'outstanding payments and benefits, and a continued pattern of abuse and neglect that created an unsafe and toxic work environment.'

Little several years ago, he told me he told me that he “didn't even realize [SOLDIER SONGS] was an opera until [opera entrepreneur] Beth Morrison clued him in.” He probably didn’t realize it was a film either, until Singer-Director Johnathan McCullough brought him the idea--and Opera Philadelphia raised the funds to make it over for its new opera channel. Met Opera Singer John Macurdy Has Passed Away at 91

New York Daily News has reported that John Macurdy, a bass singer who sang in over 1,001 performances at the Metropolitan Opera over four decades died at 91 of natural causes on May 7.
