Lifeline Theatre Artistic Director Dorothy Milne and former Live Bait Theater Artistic Director Sharon Evans are pleased to announce the 22nd Annual Fillet of Solo Festival, running January 18-February 2, 2019. Celebrating the breadth of Chicago's enduring storytelling and live lit scene, Lifeline brings 12 storytelling collectives and seven solo performers together for a three-week, multi-venue selection of powerful personal stories.

NBC has announced the inaugural class for its landmark Alternative Directors Program, the industry's first directing pipeline program for unscripted shows. With the new initiative, NBC takes a step toward equal representation behind the scenes on alternative series – an unserved part of the industry when it comes to inclusion efforts, despite the prevalence of unscripted shows on TV. The program gives experienced female and ethnically diverse directors access to expand their repertoire of alternative formats and complex directing styles with the ultimate goal of opening the door to future projects.

Natasha Sinha will join Signature Theatre as Director of Artistic Programs, the company announced today. Ms. Sinha has previously worked as LCT3/Lincoln Center Theater's Associate Director and Barrington Stage Company's Associate Producer.

SketchFest Executive Producer Jill Valentine is thrilled to announce the official line-up for the 18th Annual Chicago Sketch Comedy Festival, taking place January 10 through 20, 2019 at Stage 773, 1225 W. Last night, the 13th Annual NBCUniversal SHORT FILM FESTIVAL, which celebrates diverse stories while finding the next generation of storytellers, honored its six finalist films and filmmakers with a finale screening and awards ceremony at the Directors Guild of America in Hollywood.

Adapted and directed by Molly Houlahan featuring a diverse cast of 6 women/ gender-nonconforming actors playing all of the roles, previews begin September 27 at Access Theater in Tribeca. Opening is slated for Today, October 4.

Disney Channel has ordered a third season of the Emmy Award-nominated series 'DuckTales' prior to its season two premiere SATURDAY, OCT. 20 (7:30 a.m., EDT/PDT), on Disney Channel, DisneyNOW and Disney Channel VOD. Actress Paget Brewster ('Criminal Minds') has originated the voice role for Della Duck, who until now has been a rarely seen character, in this morning's epic one-hour season finale of Disney's hit series 'DuckTales' on Disney Channel and DisneyNOW. Della Duck is the twin sister of Donald Duck and long-lost mother to Huey, Dewey and Louie. She made her first-ever animated onscreen appearance in the series earlier this season on 'DuckTales' and was first mentioned in a Donald Duck newspaper comic strip and animated short film in the late 1930s. As daring as her Uncle Scrooge and as stubborn as her brother Donald, Della is a fearless pilot and explorer. As kids, Della and Donald were Scrooge's original adventure crew, eager to chart the unknown.

Stage 773 announces applications are now open for The Chicago Sketch Comedy Festival's 18th Anniversary.  The nation's largest and most highly anticipated sketch comedy festival takes place January 10th through 20st, 2019 at Stage 773, 1225 W. Belmont. "SketchFest" continues to grow and evolve year after year, cementing the city's reputation as the comedy hub of the nation. The festival "whose laughs are right on track," says the Chicago Sun Times, features every form of sketch comedy imaginable, from perverted musical puppets to high-brow political satire.

Center Theater/LCT3, kicks off its new LCT3 Spotlight Series with SHABASH!. Led by LCT3 Associate Director, Natasha Sinha, and presented in collaboration with Hypokrit Theatre Company's Tamasha, SHABASH! is a summer spectacle of new music and comedy celebrating a range of exciting new work by artists of South Asian descent, hosted by Danny Pudi ("Community") and Parvesh Cheena ("Outsourced"). SHABASH! will play three performances only on August 2nd, 3rd, and 4th at the Claire Tow Theater (150 West 65 Street).
