Board Chair of The Mexican Museum Meets with Mexico's President Enrique Peña Nieto

The Mexican Museum, the premier West Coast museum of Mexican, Mexican-American, Chicano, Latin American and Latino art, culture and heritage, announces that Andrew Kluger, Chairman of the Museum's Board of Directors, has returned from a trip to Mexico where he met with Mexican President Enrique Pea Nieto. The purpose of the trip was to promote The Mexican Museum and inform President Pea Nieto and other government and civic leaders about the Museum's new building project and to invite them to the groundbreaking ceremony slated for early 2015. Nearly eleven hundred people filled Beverly Hills Temple of the Arts at the Saban Theatre on Friday evening, June 13, 2014 for an International Evening of Music and Remembrance honoring Holocaust survivor and member of the Dutch Resistance, Curt Lowens, who saved 125 Jewish children and two downed American pilots during the Holocaust. Composer Sharon Farber's Bestemming: Concerto for Cello, Orchestra and Narration, which Curt Lowens served as the inspiration for, was performed with Lowens appearing as the Narrator, along with Ruslan Biryukov who appeared as the Cello Soloist, supported by the Glendale Philharmonic Orchestra led by Conductor Frank Fetta. In a city engulfed by riots a young Muslim man is killed after a confrontation with a security guard. His brother vows vengeance and attempts to take control over his seemingly written destiny. Rebels, vagrants, and officers of the law all seek asylum. Their elders, who have difficulty making sense of society's radical changes, are simultaneously dead and very much alive to bear witness to the resulting devastation.
