The Broadway League is proud to announce that Alex Newell, currently starring as Asaka in Once On This Island, will host this year's STARS IN THE ALLEY free outdoor concert.

After auditioning performers in New York City, Los Angeles and Sacramento, Broadway Sacramento has confirmed casting for the six shows in the 68th Broadway At Music Circus season. The casts include a number of Broadway veterans-some of whom are making their Broadway At Music Circus debuts-and audience favorites from previous Broadway At Music Circus productions.

Studio Theatre (FST) kicks off its 5th Summer Sidekicks Cabaret Series with the high energy music revue Carole's Kings. Honoring one of the most cherished and revered singer-songwriters of the 20th century, this cabaret transports audiences back in time to when Carole King was queen of the airwaves. Carole's Kings opens in FST's John C. Court Cabaret on June 14, and is part of a 3-show Summer Cabaret subscription package, which can be purchased for as little as $49.

THE COLOR PURPLE, the Tony Award®-winning Broadway revival, will make its L.A. Premiere beginning next week at Hollywood Pantages Theatre, playing three weeks only; May 29 - June 17, 2018. Note: immediately after this L.A. Premiere engagement, the production will play a one week engagement in Costa Mesa at Segerstrom Center for the Arts (June 19 - 24).

Momentum Artists (http://www.momentumartists.com/), a management agency representing contemporary musicians, is proud to present Secret Jazz NYC Cabaret with Mark Berman. Berman, on piano, will feature his original songs as well as his jazz arrangements of pop tunes, standards and new works, and will be joined by David Richards (Hamilton) on bass and Joe Nero (Peter Cincotti) on drums. Connecticut Repertory Theatre (CRT) announces the casting for the second production of the 2018 Nutmeg Summer Series: 'Sweeney Todd: A Musical Thriller in Concert', a Tony-Award-winning tale of love, murder and revenge set against the backdrop of 19th century London. Peter Flynn directs.

Broadway star Chilina Kennedy, currently starring in Beautiful: The Carole King Musical, is launching her own theatre company in Toronto, according to The Globe and Mail.

Broadway's Philip Hoffman will play the role of Harry Weinberg in the musical A Letter to Harvey Milk through May 27. The musical extended its run at through June 30, 2018 and will release its cast album on May 22 (Harvey Milk's birthday) at Theatre Row's Acorn Theatre (410 W 42 Street) through June 30,2018.
