The Jewish Plays Project has announced casting for the Festival of New Jewish Plays, running November 30 and December 1 at the JCC.

The Museum of Jewish Heritage - A Living Memorial to the Holocaust marked its 25th anniversary with an annual Generation to Generation benefit that raised more than $1 million and honored founders George Klein, Robert M. Morgenthau z''l, Manfred Ohrenstein, Peter A. Cohen, and Howard Rubenstein z'l on Tuesday, November 15, 2022.

The Museum of Jewish Heritage – A Living Memorial to the Holocaust will honor its founders George Klein, Robert M. Morgenthau z''l, Manfred Ohrenstein, Peter A. Cohen, and Howard Rubenstein z”l at the 25th  Anniversary Generation to Generation Dinner on Tuesday, November 15, 2022 at 6 PM. Family members will be accepting the honors on behalf of founders who have passed.

The Jewish Plays Project (David Winitsky, Artistic Director) is proud to announce its return to New York City after a three year hiatus, on November 30 and December 1, 2022. The Festival of New Jewish Plays, in partnership with the Marlene Meyerson JCC Manhattan, will feature the winners of the 2020, 2021, and 2022 National Jewish Playwriting Contests in the JPP's signature Reading+ format (script-in hand readings with targeted design support), created by the city's best actors, directors, and designers.

The Marlene Meyerson JCC Manhattan has announced the line-up for fall theater arts programs, happening in-person with the Lambert Center for Arts + Ideas in Goldman-Sonnenfeldt Auditorium and at JCC Harlem.

Romeo & Bernadette: A Musical Tale of Verona and Brooklyn, with book and lyrics by Mark Saltzman, music adapted from classic Italian melodies, directed and choreographed by Justin Ross Cohen announced the unexpected closing of the show due to a COVID outbreak within the company.

Sonia Manzano, who portrayed ‘Maria’ on “Sesame Street” from 1971-2015 attended the matinee performance yesterday (Sunday, 5/22) of ROMEO & BERNADETTE.  She and Mark Saltzman, the book & lyric writer of the show, worked together on the show for many years.

Performances of Romeo & Bernadette: A Musical Tale of Verona began May 3, 2022, for a limited engagement through Sunday afternoon, June 26, 2022, at 3:00PM. Opening Night is TONIGHT, Monday, May 16, 2022, at 7:00PM.

A new play about the decades-long, tempestuous friendship between Dorothy Parker and Robert Benchley will receive an industry reading on Wednesday, May 18, 2022.
