A team from We Make Movies has collaborated with the Easterseals Disability Film Challenge for the third year in a row. For the challenge, filmmakers have just five days to write and produce a short film (one to five minutes) based on the year’s genre, buddy comedy which was announced at the Sundance Film Festival in January.  The films are required to promote disability inclusion. 

For the second year in a row a We Make Movies Team has joined The Easterseals Disability Film Challenge. This year is especially exciting as it is the 10th anniversary of the film challenge. Over 500 authentic films have been created over the past decade as part of an amazing community of disabled artists and leaders. Check out photos here!

Special features include behind-the-scenes interviews with cast and crew, a new interview with Richard Elfman, and a music video from Mambo Diabolico, the surrealist musical collaboration between Elfman and the legendary Ego Plum. Aliens, Clowns and Geeks features the late Verne Troyer, Steve Agee, French Stewart, and George Wendt.

We Make Movies champions filmmakers by connecting them to a supportive community of like-minded artistic professionals Their goal is to empower our fellow filmmakers, provide a custom experience tailored to the needs of each project and artist, and ultimately bridge the gap between the filmmaker and the business of film.

Tonight, nonprofit disability services provider and disability inclusion resource Easterseals Southern California hosted the 2021 Easterseals Disability Film Challenge  Awards Ceremony powered by Microsoft Teams, honoring the best of this year's record-breaking applicants to the second “Home Edition” of the annual event. 

As the nation ramps up to the 30th Anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA30) on July 26, the 50-member ADA Lead On 'Core Production Team' and 22 ADA Generation bloggers, influencers and signal boosters are focused and determined to flip the script on educating, entertaining and empowering people with (and without) disabilities.

The 11th  Annual ReelAbilities Film Festival: New York of the Marlene Meyerson JCC Manhattan is proud to take the audience beyond its outstanding selection of films with an array of special events and speakers that enhance the weeklong festival. Highlights will include a disability comedy night at Gotham Comedy Club, led by “Seinfeld” actor Danny Woodburn and many esteemed comedians, and a fashion and design event at Cooper Hewitt Smithsonian Design Museum. The festival will also feature industry-related panels such as Writing Disability with Nancy Silberkleit, CEO of Archie Comics,  Alexandra Cassel, a writer for the children's television program “Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood,” and award-winning director Jason DaSilva. Additionally, the festival will open its doors for free daytime screenings for schools and educators. Easterseals Southern California announced new additions to its lineup of mentors for the annual Easterseals Disability Film Challenge, the entertainment industry's premiere disability inclusion film competition. Academy Award-winning writer, director and producer Phil Lord (“Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse,” “The Lego Movie,” “21 Jump Street”) and producer and President of SK Global John Penotti (“Crazy Rich Asians”) will provide mentorship to the film competition's winners for Best Director and Best Film, respectively.

Stephen Sorrentino wowed Hollywood with the West Coast Premiere of his hit show VOICES IN MY HEAD. Celebrity guests and fans who walked the red carpet on opening night include Doris Roberts, Joanne Worley, Todd Sherry Ruta Lee, Anne Jeffreys, Joan Kean, Lon Haber and Chuck McCann, as well as legendary Hollywood publicist Ed Lozzi, with Nic Novicki of "Boardwalk Empire" and teen stars and filmmakers Tara-Nicole Azarian, Isabella Palmieri, Allie Carlton, Kiana Lyz Rivera, Trent Carlton and Brandon Tyler Russell.
