Pull out your best butcher knife, pour yourself a steaming cup of coffee, and prance over to the Hyde Park Theatre to experience Street Corner Arts' production of THE BUTCHER OF BARABOO. Playwright Marisa Wegrzyn fashions a world where the snow is white, the blood is red, and the humor is as black as the coffee brewing in the pot.
In Baraboo, Wisconsin, the ground is white with snow and the air is black with laughs. Valerie is the town butcher with an axe to grind. Her daughter Midge is a pharmacist whose clientele extends beyond the drug store. Over one cold February week, the town cop - who just happens to be Valerie's sister-in-law - will try to sniff out this family's secrets and lies.
What if we all had a literal internal clock that counted down to our time of death? This is the premise of Marisa Wegrzyn's award winning play Hickorydickory. Cari Lee's mortal clock was tinkered with, so she's stuck at age 17 for eternity. Now she's the same age as her daughter, Dale, whose time may be literally running out. Hickorydickory is a funny, heartbreaking story about family, and mortality, and sacrifice. Part of the Main Stage Series.

The four readings will be presented between January and April of 2019 at A.R.T./New York's performance space in Manhattan. New year, new Kilroys! For the past five years The Kilroys, an LA-based collective of playwrights/producers continuing the fight to achieve gender balance in the American theater, have been advocating for equal representation on our American stages, and have released an annual list of under-produced plays by women, trans, and non-binary writers. Despite some measurable progress, we still have a long way to go before we strike that balance. So, as we approach 2019, we are beyond thrilled to introduce a fresh new gang of fearless badass leaders. These women will seize our reins and continue the fight for equality, creating random acts of disruption along the way, while the OG Kilroys will serve as an advisory board supporting the current class.
Unlike many theatre companies, Dragon's theatre season runs January through December. The Main Stage Series is Dragon's traditional programming series - the underrated, overlooked, and rarely performed gems that make Dragon the unique little theatre company that it is. Dragon's 2nd Stages series launched in 2014. It's intended to give other artists the opportunity to fully produce their passion projects with funding and mentorship from the Dragon's staff. This series works to develop new local theatre makers with the support of an established theatre company. For 2019 we've decided to offer three Main Stage Series productions and three 2nd Stages Series productions. All six shows are performed on the stage of the Dragon Theatre in downtown Redwood City. The 2019 season is the final season selected by outgoing founder and Executive Artistic Director Meredith Hagedorn.
