More than 900 movie buffs were on hand for the glittery opening night of the 26th annual Donald M. Ephraim Palm Beach Jewish Film Festival at the Kravis Center's Cohen Pavilion. The first feature shown was DOUGH, starring stage and screen actor Jonathan Pryce, and film director John Goldschmidt flew in from London to welcome the opening night guests. The Private Client Reserve U.S. Bank sponsored the Festival's Opening Night Premiere.

Chairman Donald M. Ephraim, Festival Director Ellen Wedner and Alan Feldman, the new CEO of the Mandel Jewish Community Center of the Palm Beaches, the official presenter of the annual Palm Beach Jewish Film Festival, greeted attendees.

"The 31 films being shown at this year's Donald M. Ephraim Palm Beach Jewish Film Festival represent a variety of different genres and come from all over the world," touted Wedner. The top quality films, many of the Palm Beach and South Florida premieres, can be seen at Cobb Theatres at Downtown in Palm Beach Gardens, with screenings almost daily through February 8; Cinemark theatres in Boca Raton and Boynton Beach, with screenings February 7-10; and the Frank Cinebowl & Grill in Delray Beach, with screenings January 31 through February 6.

The closing night film on February 11 will be RAISING THE ROOF. Sponsored by Howard Kaye Insurance Agency LLC and the Cultural Council of Palm Beach County, this uplifting documentary will be shown at the Duncan Theatre in Lake Worth. The film is about artists Rick and Laura Brown and their 10-year effort to reconstruct the elaborate roof and painted ceiling of the historic, 17th century Gwozdziec synagogue in Poland. Rick and Laura Brown are scheduled to attend. Film Partner for this screening is Howard Kaye Insurance Agency, LLC.
