The Marriott Theatre has announced that their original production of HERO, a new musical with book and concept by Aaron Thielen and music and lyrics by Michael Mahler, will be produced by the Asolo Repertory Theatre in Sarasota, Florida, April 29 through June 1, 2014. The Marriott Theatre presented the World Premiere production of HERO in the summer of 2012. That production received two 2012 Joseph Jefferson awards including Best New Musical and Best Supporting Actor-musical. Eleven-time Jeff award-winner David H. Bell will direct. HERO tells the story of aspiring comic book artist Hero Batowski who lives anything but a superhero's life - he's 28 years old, works in his family's Milwaukee comic book shop, and still lives at home with his dad. A long-ago tragedy left Hero unable to move on with his life, but when a series of unexpected events occur, he must decide whether he's ready to get his life on track. With a sensational score, this bright new musical explores those extraordinary moments in an ordinary life when a young man discovers the hero within of a talented young artist living anything but a superhero life.
