Artful Events announces the first SUMMER NIGHTS SERIES at The Abbey, featuring a wide array of offerings showcasing local talent and appealing to a broad spectrum of musical tastes.

"We are extremely excited to have a line-up of shows that feature amazing talent, including a world-renowned Broadway performer and amazing local artists, as well as fun happy hour and evening events that appeal to our diverse audience which is always looking for a fun night out in downtown Orlando," said Wendy Connor, owner of The Abbey.

Davis Gaines kicks off the season with his show DOUBLE STANDARDS May 29 - June 1. Fresh off his stunning National Anthem performance at Game 5 of the L.A. Clippers and Golden State Warriors playoff series, Orlando's homegrown Broadway star Davis Gaines will take The Abbey stage to present for the first time his one-man intimate cabaret Double Standards. Featuring unique and compelling song pairings, this new show brings fresh and unexpected takes on familiar standards from the Great American Songbook. Gaines is best known for his leading role in THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA, where he starred in more than 2,000 performances. Tickets are currently on sale at www.TicketWeb.com.

Wiggin' Out Wednesdays - 80s Video Night will be held Wednesday nights beginning June 11. Each Wednesday night, get your dose of MTV as The Abbey plays all of the totally tubular videos you know and love from the awesome 80s. Drink specials, giveaways and special performances by local artists will make Wiggin' Out Wednesdays the place to be this summer.

In June, The Abbey encourages guests to embrace their inner T-Bird or Pink Lady at the phenomenon that is the GREASE SING-A-LONG, June 13 & 21. Part Rocky Horror Picture Show - costumes are encouraged and interactive bags of goodies are provided for each show - and part mob karaoke, this promises to be a watch, rinse and repeat. The rules are "there are no rules," so break out those leather jackets and have a blast.

Direct from her New York engagement, local songstress extraordinaire Priscilla Bagley presents When Will I Be Loved?: The Linda Ronstadt 'Hall of Fame' Victory Tour celebrating the many hits and wide variety of musical genres conquered by vocal icon Linda Ronstadt. Catch the show on June 28!

Next up is Ladies of Eola Heights, July 10 - 28! Audiences will love this revival and re-envisioning of playwright Michael Wanzie's hugely successful Ladies of Eola Heights. For this production, Director Kenny Howard (who also directed the premiere production starring Michael Wanzie, Doug Ba'aser and Tommy Wooten as the Locksdale Sisters) has cast female actresses in the lead roles, as well as returning original cast member Sam "Miss Sammy" Singhaus reprising her role as cross-dressing brother, Jackson. Sam is now joined by his new "real women" sisters: Central Florida favorites Beth Marshall as Pearl; Peg O'Keef as Opal and Blue Star as Ruby.

"I was looking for a site-specific piece to present in the unique configuration of our venue when I recalled Ladies of Eola Heights and knew this was the ideal summer offering for The Abbey," said Howard, who is also the new Artistic Director for The Abbey. "'Ladies' takes place in the neighborhood immediately adjacent to The Abbey and is punctuated with fond references to surrounding locales that are within walking distance of our theater marquee. Those considerations made it the perfect choice for my first theatrical undertaking in my new position with The Abbey."

Finally, check out Rock Hard Revue on May 31, August 16 and August 30. The gentlemen of ROCK HARD REVUE will keep the summer nights hot as they steam up The Abbey stage. This event sells out, so ladies are encouraged to reserve seats early.

Additional events will be added to the series throughout the summer; details and ticket information for all events at The Abbey are available at www.AbbeyOrlando.com.
