Orlando Shakespeare & UCF Partnering for Special Production of THE TEMPEST in July

Orlando Shakespeare Theater in Partnership with UCF invites the Central Florida community to a special production of William Shakespeare's The Tempest performed by the Shakespeare with Heart company. Following a two-week production summer camp, the troupe of middle and high school students with and without special needs will perform their work on the Margeson Theater stage on Friday, July 24 at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are available for walk-up purchase starting one hour prior to the show for a suggested donation of $10.

"This summer marks the 10th anniversary of this important program. Over the past decade, Shakespeare with Heart has created a safe place where everyone's efforts are celebrated," said Director of Education Anne Hering. "The Tempest will be a fun and moving show for both the cast and our audience."

A collaboration between UCP of Central Florida, the Exceptional Education Department of UCF, and the Orlando Shakespeare Theater, Shakespeare with Heart is a unique program that invites students with and without special needs to work side by side to put on a Shakespeare production. All students are challenged to grow by being cast in a role adapted to their skill level and, over a two-week rehearsal process, learn the value of perseverance and hard work in an inclusive, accepting, and understanding environment.

Stranded under the Big Top, a group of travelers confront the squabbles of the past amongst clowns, acrobats, and wild animals. Join the Shakespeare With Heart company as they run away to join the circus, finding home and family in the center ring.
