terraNOVA Collective and Producing Artistic Director, Jennifer Conley Darling are excited to present Leah Nanako Winkler's DEATH FOR SYDNEY BLACK directed by Kip Fagan. DEATH FOR SYDNEY BLACK is part of terraNOVA Rx, four exciting productions, including ANIMALS COMMIT SUICIDE by J. Julian Christopher, playing in repertory as part of their 11th Season. DEATH FOR SYDNEY BLACK will play a two week limited engagement from Sunday, December 1st through Sunday, December 15th, 2013 at IRT Theater (located in the Archive Building at 154 Christopher St, New York). Opening is Saturday, December 7 @ 5pm.

Darling says, "Death for Sydney Black is so relevant in the midst of discussions around female sexuality and empowerment right now. School-aged girls are trained to compete with each other and put walls up to anyone seemingly out of the norm. Through an all-female cast and dark comedy, Winkler skewers the hell out of all of the traditional notions of what it is to be a fulfilled woman: 'the cheerleader falling in love, becoming Prom Queen, marrying the quarterback and living happily ever after'. It is so wickedly smart and funny - with Kip Fagan at the helm, it's going to be an awesome ride."

A darkly familiar and subversive take on the 'teen comedy' trope, as characters sing, rap, and enact various versions of a timeless story: the unpopular girl becomes popular, high-school cliques torn asunder, and revenge is exacted. Find out if this uncensored 21st century fairy tale has a happy ending!

Featuring Allison Buck, Beth Hoyt, Emily Kratter, Danielle Slavick, Samantha Strelitz and Natalie Woolams-Torres.

With scenic design by Jason Simms, costume design by Stephanie Levin & Jessica Pabst, lighting design by Seth Reiser and sound design by David Margolin Lawson. Amber Louise Mathis is the production stage manager.

Tickets are $20.00 and available to purchase online at www.terraNOVACollective.org or by calling 1-800-838-3006. Tickets may also be purchased ½ hour before each performance.
