The Tank will present the World Premiere of Marta Mozelle MacRostie's Close to Decline, as part of Flint & Tinder, their curated theater series, March 22-April 13. MacRostie brings this unique new work to The Tank after a highly praised workshop performance in the 2012 Puppet Lab at St. Ann's Warehouse.

What does it take to connect with someone who's on their way out? Using puppetry, masks, and object theater, MacRostie illuminates a young woman's everyday voyage to visit her father in a nursing home. Fiercely personal and slyly funny, Close to Decline blends deep sadness, absurd joy, comedic failure, and a dancing chair to find beauty in the mundane.

Close to Decline will run Fri 3/22 @ 7pm, Sat 3/23 @ 7pm, Fri 4/5 @ 9:30pm, Sat 4/6 @ 7pm, Sun 4/7 @ 3pm, Wed 4/10 @ 7pm, Thu 4/11 @ 7pm, Sat 4/13 @ 3pm & 7pm at The Tank (151 West 46th Street between 6th and 7th Avenue, 8th Floor). Tickets ($15) may be purchased in advance at http://flintandtinder.thetanknyc.org or by calling 1-800-838-3006.

MARTA MOZELLE MACROSTIE (Creator/Performer) has performed at The New Victory Theater, La Mama, PS 122, The Guggenheim, the Kennedy Center, the Smithsonian Institute, Berkeley Repertory Theater, and the windows Bergdorf Goodman Department Store. Recent credits include: La Davina Caricatura with Mabu Mines, Lemony Snicket's The Composer is Dead with Phantom Limb Company, and the Tectonic Theater Company, Gotham Chamber Opera & Blind Summit collaboration Puss in Boots. Marta's own short works have appeared at puppet slams across the city and the US, and a workshop segment of Marta's first full-length work Close to Decline was presented last spring as part of Labapalooza! at St. Ann's Warehouse. Marta holds a degree in Puppetry and Music from UMass Amherst.

Flint & Tinder is a curated series of exciting new independent theater presented by The Tank in the heart of Manhattan's theater district. The series showcases ferociously imaginative emerging artists making work that spans (and often flagrantly combines) physical theater, puppetry, dance, clowning, and more. They are storytellers, relentless risk-takers, and theatrical alchemists shaping the future of the medium. Now in its second season, this year's Flint & Tinder (formerly Theater at The Tank) will feature performances from across the country and around the world. Flint & Tinder is curated by Josh Luxenberg and Jon Levin of Sinking Ship Productions. Maggie Baker is the series coordinator.

Founded in 2003, THE TANK is a Manhattan based non-profit arts presenter. Curating across all disciplines, The Tank provides an artistic home to both new and established artists who are engaged in the pursuit of new ideas. Combining free performance space, subsidized rehearsal space, discounted ticket prices and promotional support; the Tank brings quality programming to a new generation of audience for live performance, civic discourse, and the work of emerging artists.
