Classic Stage Company's rare production of Rodgers & Hammerstein's 1947 musical ALLEGRO begins performances tonight, Nov. 1. Under the direction and design of John Doyle, ALLEGRO runs Tuesdays-Thursdays at 7pm, Fridays at 8pm, Saturdays at 3pm & 8pm, and Sundays at 3pm, through Dec. 7.

ALLEGRO features music direction by Mary-Mitchell Campbell, costume design by Ann Hould-Ward, lighting design by Jane Cox, and sound design by Dan Moses Schreier.

Follow the story of Joe Taylor, Jr. from cradle to early manhood in this loving and wise exploration of America's coming of age, as seen through the eyes of a young physician learning about the mysteries of life and death. Discover this little-known jewel of a show, long considered Rodgers and Hammerstein's most personal and groundbreaking work of musical theatre. This second installment of CSC's Musical Theatre Initiative will once again be helmed by Tony Award-winning director John Doyle (Passion).

The cast includes: George Abud, Alma Cuervo, Elizabeth A. Davis, Claybourne Elder, David Finch, Malcolm Gets, Maggie Lakis, Paul Lincoln, Megan Loomis, Kara Mikula, Jane Pfitsch, Randy Redd, Ed Romanoff, Jessica Tyler Wright.
