The New York Musical Theater Festival will honor TV's NY 1 and Sh-K-Boom at its sixth Anniversary Season Awards Gala on Sunday, November 22nd at The Supper Club (230 West 46th Street). The winners of NYMF 2009 Awards for Excellence, which will be all announced later this month, will also be honored at the gala.
NY1 is Time Warner Cable's 24-hour newschannel in New York City. NY1 covers the city's five boroughs with more than 40 full-time reporters and is the only NYC network committed to covering the theater and offering the only weekly news program dedicated to live theater, airing six times a week, 52 weeks a year, in addition to their coverage that airs throughout the day through their "NY1 LIVING" arts reporting.
Founded 10 years ago by Kurt Deutsch and Sherie Rene Scott, Sh-K-Boom and its imprint Ghostlight Records has become the leading independent force in musical theatre recording-shining a light towards its future while continuing to honor its past. The label is renowned for its efforts to encourage and support the music of the most innovative new voices on Broadway, to help bridge the gap between pop/rock and musicals, and to preserve the scores of important works.
