4 DAY THEATER FESTIVAL FEATURES EIGHT TROUPES
IN SOUTH FLORIDA

Conundrum Stages is hosting an inaugural independent theater festival featuring eight stage troupes; also included will be musical and comedic interludes.

From Wednesday, August 17th to Saturday, August 20th, Conundrum will showcase 2 different troupes each night, representing Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach, in guises of performance and/or play readings.

The participants include Infinite Abyss Productions, Thinking Cap Theatre, Immeasurable Theatre, The ALLIANCE THEATRE Lab, Three Lefts Productions; theatre artists Vanessa Garcia, Lea Roy, Bradford Sadler and Wendy White. Vocalists Lisa Kerstin Braun, Jeanne lynn Gray, and John Lariviere will provide pre-show solo concerts on separate nights.*

This is promoting local, independent theater now more than ever. ON THE BOARDS will start on Wednesday, August 17th and continue until Saturday, August 20th. All shows begin at 7pm at the Tamarac Theatre of Performing Arts. The address is 7143 Pine Island Road in Tamarac. Suggested donation is $10. ON THE BOARDS: Alternative Theater Festival
Performance Schedule (August 17-20, 2011)

WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 17 @ 7PM
Opening concert: Lisa Kerstin Braun

Program A:
The Vagina Monologues
Boynton Beach resident Lea Roy directs and leads a cast that will preview Eve Ensler's flagship work leading up to a fundraiser this coming fall for the Center for Creative Growth.

Program B:
The Honesty Project
After answering a brief anonymous questionnaire that asked simple questions about their lives, theatre students from Florida Atlantic University had their responses turned into a script incorporating theatre, music and dance. Through the students' eyes, vignettes were developed into a dynamic and unique experience, one that audiences will see hopes, fears, and aspirations created from page to stage. Directed by FAU grad Bradford Sadler.

THURSDAY, AUGUST 18 @ 7PM

Program A:
Paradise Lost: Wings of War, performed by Immeasurable Theatre
The Palm Beach County-based Immeasurable will perform scenes from a drama based on the epic poem by John Milton. Witness the dazzling beauty of Adam and Eve in Eden and the deceit of a sly serpent attempting to steal it all plus the battle between Michael the archangel and Satan to regain paradise and save humanity. Adapted and directed by founding artistic director Ouida Williams.

Program B:
The Lab Project, A series of one-acts, performed by The ALLIANCE THEATRE Lab
The Miami-based theatre troupe will preview a small collection of scintillating new works from resident playwright David Sirios, performed by a recent group comprised of students from Barry University's theatre program. Directed by Barry grad McLey Lafrance. 

FRIDAY, AUGUST 19 @ 7PM

Program A:
TBA, performed by Thinking Cap Theatre
Fort Lauderdale's only experimental and socially conscious stage company will preview new works for their second season, stewarded by founding artistic director Nicole Stodard.

Program B:
A reading of new works by Vanessa Garcia and Wendy White:
A double bill of short plays from the critically acclaimed collaborative duo. The Charms of the Gifted (Garcia) talks about how one gets rid of appreciation gifts from houseguests while 7 Generations (White) focuses on one writer's journey, after her father's death, going back in time to heal heart ailments spanning generation after generation through forgiveness.  

SATURDAY, AUGUST 20 @ 7PM
Opening concert: Jeanne lynn Gray

Program A:
TBA, performed by Infinite Abyss Productions
Fort Lauderdale's critically-acclaimed stage and screen collective, with recent hits like Stop Kiss and The Pillowman, will preview a new work written and directed by founders Erynn Dalton and Jeff Holmes

Program B:
Little Men, written by Gary & Edmund Entin.
Performed by Three Lefts Productions
ON THE BOARDS co-host, the recently formed Three Lefts, will incorporate mixed media and theatre by presenting a one-act about four teenage boys forced to face consequences when a bullying incident backfires. Directed by co-founder Elizabeth Garrard.
