First, it was Lincoln Center. And now, it's the Maltz Jupiter Theatre.

Beloved Broadway, television and film star and multi-award winning performer Brian Stokes Mitchell will present a special event at the Maltz Jupiter Theatre at 8 p.m. on Sunday, January 5, an intimate 90-minute concert - entitled Brian Stokes Mitchell: Simply Broadway - to showcase his newest album for the benefit of the Theatre and The Actors Fund.

"As our Chairman, Brian Stokes Mitchell is dedicated to The Actors Fund and arts organizations across the country," said Fund CEO Joseph Benincasa. "The proceeds from this Simply Broadway evening, as it was with Lincoln Center, will support the vital programs of The Fund and the Maltz Jupiter Theatre."

"We are thrilled to be working together with The Actors Fund and sharing, with Brian Stokes Mitchell, his passion for the importance of the arts in the lives of people everywhere," said the Theatre's managing director Tricia Trimble.

Since 1882, The Actors Fund has served as a lifeline for workers in the performing arts and provides a wide range of social services that now help 13,500 professionals each year. Since 2004, the Maltz Jupiter Theatre has emerged on the theatrical scene offering award-winning productions among some of the best in the country. The Theatre is a LORT B regional theatre.

"I've been a supporter of The Actors Fund for many years," said Dr. Sidney Lesowitz, a Palm Beach resident and Maltz Jupiter Theatre supporter. "I think it's a wonderful cause and I can't image a better representative than Brian Stokes Mitchell. I think he's an extraordinary performer."

Dubbed "The Last Leading Man" by the New York Times, Stokes has enjoyed a rich and varied career. His Broadway work includes Man of La Mancha (Tony Award nomination and Helen Hayes Award); Kiss Me Kate (Tony, Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Awards); Ragtime (Tony nomination); August Wilson's King Hedley II (Tony nomination); Kiss of the Spider Woman; and Jelly's Last Jam.

As part of the exclusive benefit concert, up to 70 supporters can choose to attend an elegant pre-concert sit-down dinner onsite at the Theatre in the new upstairs club level, The Green Room, before moving to their VIP seats in the orchestra. After the performance, Stokes will join the guests for dessert, coffee and cordials.

Brian Stokes Mitchell: Simply Broadway is sponsored by Bonnie Osher, Chris Kritikos, Muriel and Ralph Saltzman, Roberta and Harvey Golub, Sandra and Paul Goldner, Dee Topol and Kretzer Piano.

The benefit concert will take place at the Maltz Jupiter Theatre at 8 p.m. on Sunday, January 5. Tickets begin at $50. For more information, call the box office at (561) 575-2223 or visit www.jupitertheatre.org.
