Single tickets will go on sale starting September 16, 2009 for all of the shows in Musical Theatre West's 2009/10 Season. Last January, Paul Garman, Executive Director/Producer and Steven Glaudini, Associate Artistic Director of Musical Theatre West announced the 2009-2010 Season that will be presented at the Carpenter Performing Arts Center in Long Beach.

MTW has solidified its reputation as Southern California's Premiere Musical Theatre Company whose audiences and critics alike agree that recent productions of The Producers and All Shook Up surpassed the National Tour productions. Indeed, Musical Theatre West is "currently the Southland's finest" musical theatre company (BackStage West) and "sets the bar for musical theatre in Southern California" (Gazette Newspapers).

MTW is excited to be the first regional theatre to produce RENT in the Los Angeles area. MTW Associate Artistic Director/Producer Steven Glaudini states, "We are extremely honored to be the first professional regional theatre company to produce our own production of this Pulitzer Prize-winning phenomenon." RENT ranked as a patron favorite in MTW's recent Patron Survey and was recently a hit feature film. The show will run for two weeks (10 performances) at the Carpenter Performing Arts Center (December 11-20, 2009).

The Season will open with the nostalgic and heartwarming MEET ME IN ST. LOUIS, (October 30-November 15, '2009) based on the classic MGM movie starring Judy Garland. Set against the backdrop of the historic World's Fair, MEET ME IN ST. LOUIS tells the charming story of the Smith family as they move from their beloved Victorian home to St. Louis in 1904. The classic score includes "The Boy Next Door," "The Trolley Song" and "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas."

For its second production, MTW is thrilled to present SWEENEY TODD (January 29-February 14, 2010). This Tony Award winning musical tells the infamous tale of Benjamin Barker, aka Sweeney Todd, who takes up with his enterprising neighbor in a delicious plot to slIce Their way through England's upper crust. Justice will be served, along with lush melodies, audacious humor and bloody good thrills. The New York Times called SWEENEY TODD "a masterpiece...a work of extreme genius!"

For its third production, MTW will present Roger Bean's smash hit THE MARVELOUS WONDERETTES

(April 16 through May 2, 2010). A cotton-candy colored, non-stop pop musical blast from the past, THE MARVELOUS WONDERETTES transports you to the 1958 Springfield High School prom, where we meet four girls with hopes and dreams as big as their crinoline skirts with voices to match. Featuring the classic songs "Lollipop," "Dream Lover," "Lipstick on Your Collar," "Secret Love," "Mr. Sandman" and so many more.

MTW will close the season and celebrate the birth of this great nation with the historic and patriotic musical 1776 (July 9-25, 2010). A Tony winner for Best Musical, 1776 will introduce you to the Founding Fathers; sometimes comic, usually noble and always human. Variety calls 1776 "A thoroughly American musical that continues to engage, entertain and inspire...Stunning!"

Musical Theatre West is excited to announce, for the very first time in its 57 year history, the addition of a 5th production to its regular season, RENT, the Tony Award-winning musical.
