Range View Productions is thrilled to present EURYDICE, written by Sarah Ruhl and directed by Trevor Biship. EURYDICE will preview on Thursday, April 9 at 8pm and will open on Friday, April 10 and run through Saturday, May 16 at the Hayworth Theatre, 2511 Wilshire Blvd. in Los Angeles.

EURYDICE, by Pulitzer Prize nominee Sarah Ruhl, is a bittersweet and off-beat retelling of the classic love story of Orpheus and Eurydice, this time through the perspective of the departed heroine, Eurydice. After her arrant death on her wedding day, Eurydice finds herself in an aphasic underworld, where she reunites with her father while struggling to reconcile with her lost love, Orpheus. As visually breathtaking as it is curiously charming, passionate, and heartbreaking, Eurydice is the play that established Ruhl as one of America's most inventive contemporary dramatists.

ABOUT THE CREATIVE TEAM

Sarah Ruhl (Playwright) studied under Paula Vogel at Brown University (A.B., 1997; M.F.A., 2001), and did graduate work at Pembroke College at Oxford. Subsequently, her plays have been produced at theatres across the country, including Lincoln Center Theater, The Goodman Theatre, Arena Stage, South Coast Repertory, Yale Repertory Theatre, Berkeley Repertory Theatre, among others, and internationally. She is the recipient of the Susan Smith Blackburn Prize for The Clean House (2004), was a Pulitzer Prize finalist in 2005, and won a McArthur Fellowship in 2006. Currently, her newest show, In the Next Room (or the Vibrator Play) is receiving its world premiere at Berkeley Rep.

TREVOR BISHIP (Director) has directed the world and regional premieres of diverse contemporary playwrights, from Suzan-Lori Parks to Paula Vogel. Los Angeles world and regional premieres include Far Away, Film, Just Say No and Psalms of a Questionable Nature. His production of The Kentucky Cycle for California Repertory Company was recently nominated by the Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle for Best Ensemble. Trevor has worked with numerous regional theatres, assisting directors such as Daniel Sullivan, Bill Rauch, Kate Buckley and Chay Yew. He previously collaborated with Range View Productions for their 2007 Playwriting Festival Competition. Trevor's productions have been lauded by the Los Angeles Times, L.A. Weekly, Backstage, and the Orange County Register. Formerly, he was the Literary Manager and Resident Director for (Mostly) Harmless Theatre in St. Louis. Two of his productions (Bash: Latterday Plays and Educating Rita) were named Best of 2003 by St. Louis theatre critics. Trevor has served as a Guest Artist and Lecturer at numerous universities. He received an M.F.A. in Directing from the University of California, Irvine.

SCOTT WERVE (Producing Director - RANGE VIEW PRODUCTIONS) is a Directing graduate from the UC Irvine School of the Arts, who has worked up and down the west coast, most notably at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival and the San Jose Repertory Theatre. He has produced and directed classical, contemporary, and experimental works with great distinction, including Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, The Tooth of Crime, and Fortinbras Gets Drunk. As a writer, Scott has also punched out short fiction for Salon.com (If I Were Lemon Pie), and original plays at Shakespeare Santa Cruz (Stories of the Night Told Over). In each of the above projects, Scott's overriding focus has been to popularize progressive storytelling, by intersecting the sturdy aesthetics of the mainstream with the atypical creativity of the underground.

MARIE WONG (Managing Director - RANGE VIEW PRODUCTIONS) Marie Wong is a graduate of the UC Irvine School of Arts with a B.A. in Drama. She has worked as an actress in productions such as Mixed Messages (East West Players), The Good Person of Szechuan (Irvine Barclay Theatre) and Scenes from American Life (South Coast Repertory - Professional Conservatory). Her recent TV credits include Crossing Jordan and Close to Home. Marie is also very involved with Lodestone Theatre Ensemble, an Asian American theatre company based in Los Angeles, and has served as a co-producer in their world premiere of Aziatik Nation, which received critical acclaim in the Los Angeles Times and the LA community. The process of working as an artist while balancing the producing elements of a show is the very reason why she continues taking on these challenges. Marie is represented by the management team of Thirdhill Entertainment.
The cast of EURYDICE will include: Dina Percia as Eurydice, Edwin Tuazon as Orpheus, Trevor Olsen, Clayton Shane Farris, Leonard Zanders, Lauren Birriel, Raymond Lee, Aaron Van Geem and Marie Wong.
