Desert singer Jerome Elliott caps a season marked by critically acclaimed debuts in New York and Los Angeles with his new show, Crawling Back to Broadway at Arthur Newman Theatre in Palm Desert's Joslyn Center on Sunday, May 15, 2011 at a 2 PM matinee. Tickets are $10 cash only at the door with complimentary wine before the show. Joining Elliott will be his longtime music director Charlie Creasy, whose many credits include a stint as music director for the legendary chanteuse Hildegarde.

Elliott's newest show - his fifth original cabaret production in three years - takes its cue from the 1967 cult film hit Valley of the Dolls; in particular, a pivotal scene where Susan Hayward and Patty Duke, portraying dueling show business divas, engage in a spirited cat fight and Hayward utters the famous line: "They drummed you right out of Hollywood, so you come crawling back to Broadway!" With this inspiration, Elliott has crafted a tribute featuring songs and story lines about people in films and show business drawn from such movies and Broadway musicals as Valley of the Dolls, Inside Daisy Clover, Fame, 70 Girls 70, Mack and Mabel, A Star is Born, Chicago¸ Evita, and Merrily We Roll Along, taking his audience on a comic and sometimes irreverent journey through a career "in the biz."

Covering Jerome's recent Hollywood debut of A Dry Heat, Cabaret Scenes critic Elliot Zwiebach wrote: "Jerome Elliott is hot. Bringing the warmth of his hometown of Palm Springs to a cold, rainy night in Hollywood, Elliott filled an ample stage that contained only a piano and a microphone with the power of his voice and the pleasance of his personality." An alumnus of the prestigious 2008 International Cabaret Conference at Yale University, The Desert Theater League has nominated two of Jerome's previous cabarets, Something to Smile About and The Great American Love Song, for Outstanding Cabaret Production, making him a four-time DTL nominee for his cabaret and theater performances.
