HERO Theatre announced an upcoming presentation of "Waiting for Lefty" by Clifford Odets that will be featured in a production titled "An Evening of Clifford Odets: Waiting for Lefty and other Odets Classics." "Waiting for Lefty" will be featured in its entirety alongside scenes from Clifford Odets favorites "Golden Boy," "Awake & Sing" and "Paradise Lost." It will be directed by Korey Jackson. The show dates are January 23, 24, 25, 30, 31 and February 1st. It will be presented at the Rosenthal Theater at Inner-City Arts in Los Angeles, CA.

The cast includes HERO acting ensemble members Charlie Hofheimer (Mad Men), James Martinez (NBC's Aquarius), Johnny Ray Gill (Sundance Channel's Rectify) and Shannon Lucio (HBO's True Blood). The full cast will be announced shortly.

In an effort to make the program accessible to a wide range of audience members, HERO Theatre will be offering a block of tickets free of charge to Los Angeles Labor Union Members. The general admission price will be the price of a movie ticket. "We're excited to present Clifford Odets' work, especially 'Waiting for Lefty' in Los Angeles where the union movement is so strong," commented HERO's Artistic Director, Elisa Bocanegra. "The Rosenthal Theater is within minutes of some local Los Angeles union offices. We hope to bring the community together for this production."

HERO Theatre began in August 2011. The company consists of some of today's most prominent and emerging artists from diverse backgrounds and training in stage, television and film. HERO Theatre's mission is to build bridges between artists of different ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds by way of the classics. Academy Award-winner Olympia Dukakis is Chair of HERO Theatre's Advisory Board, which includes theatre notables Michael Ritchie (Artistic Director of the Center Theatre Group), Tony-winning director Darko Tresnjak, Bill Rauch (Artistic Director of the Oregon Shakespeare Festival) and Obie-winning director Lisa Peterson.
