GLAAD Honors Michael Elyanow's THE CHILDREN

GLAAD honored Michael Elyanow's "The Children" (The Theatre @ Boston Court, Spring 2012) along side former President Bill Clinton, entertainment attorney Steve Warren, and the best in film and television at the 24th Annual GLAAD Media Awards in Los Angeles.

The GLAAD Media Awards recognize and honor media for their fair, accurate and inclusive representations of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community and the issues that affect their lives. The GLAAD Media Awards also fund GLAAD's work to amplify stories of LGBT people and issues that build support for equality.

"'The Children' was one of the most beautiful, passionate, moving, painful, resilient plays I have ever had the privilege to shepherd to fruition. That Michael Elyanow's brilliance was acknowledged by GLAAD makes me thrilled that others recognize what an important voice he is for our time," The Theatre @ Boston Court, Co-Artistic Director.

"I can't tell you how thankful I am to GLAAD for this award. I wrote a play about finding the courage to love in the face of extreme darkness, so it's an especially meaningful honor for me to be recognized by GLAAD, whose organization has been an encouraging and loving force for the LGBT community since its inception. I'm grateful to Jessica Kubzansky, Emilie Beck, and all involved with The Theatre @ Boston Court who helped turn 'The Children' into a one-of-a-kind theatrical experience, and I thank the GLAAD Media Awards once again for shining their light on what I hope others will find to be a very human and very hopeful play," playwright, Michael Elyanow.
