The award winning two-act comedy by Laguna Beach playwright Tom Swimm has been adapted into a full-length musical with 16 original songs composed by Charles Verburg and will be presented at Mysterium Theater's new location at the La Habra Depot Theatre beginning tonight, May 21st. With a cast of nine singers and dancers, the show will be choreographed by Sonya Randall.

Carl is a Broadway musical composer on the verge of an artistic and emotional breakdown. When his wife leaves him to find a new life in Italy, his Bed suddenly comes to life. "She" also wants to know things and feel loved. Carl wants love too, and he wants to win a Tony Award for best musical. Facing a looming deadline to write another show-stopping song, he must juggle the demands of an insane Russian Director, a star struck ingenue, talking pillows, and his "not quite dead" father.

"I'm thrilled and delighted to have this premiere at Mysterium Theater," said playwright Tom Swimm. "I've had a long and wonderful relationship with Artistic Director Marla Ladd and she has put together an amazing cast that will make this a non-stop roller coaster ride of musical hilarity."

The creative team includes Orchestration by Brian Sherick, Musical Direction by C. J. Ver Burg, Technical Direction by Robert Ladd, Scenic Design by Eugene McDonald Costume Design by Pandora Spocks, Lighting Design by Brandon Philips, Production Stage Manager is Brian Robrecht.

A tragedy of passion and beauty Miss Saigon is one of the most stunning theatrical spectacles of all time. Nominated for an incredible number of Olivier, TONY, and Drama Desk Awards, Miss Saigon is the second, massively successful offering from the creators of LES MISERABLES: Claude-Michel Schonberg & Alain Boublil.

In the turmoil of the Vietnam War, Chris, an American soldier, and Kim, a Vietnamese girl, fall in love and marry but are distressingly separated when Saigon falls. As years pass, Chris, unable to contact Kim, remarries and attempts to move on with his life. Kim, however, gives birth to Chris's son and waits faithfully for Chris's return. When circumstances bring Chris back to Vietnam he learns the truth, but before he is able to speak with Kim, she takes her own life ensuring their son will be taken back to America with his father.

Miss Saigon is an epic, daring musical that is universal in its emotional power. Our opening performance on April 30, 2015 will mark the 40th anniversary of the fall of Saigon. It was such a powerful time for our American history and an even more powerful time for those who lived it. When we realized this momentous occasion was happening, Director, Naathan Phan and I jumped on the opportunity to present this beautiful story, based on Puccini's opera, Madame Butterfly.

Plays thru May 24. Tickets available at 562-697-3311 or mysteriumtheater.com.
