The Smith Center to present POSTMODERN JUKEBOX 10/14 for PBS

Following its successful participation in the 2016 PBS Arts Fall Festival, Myron's Cabaret Jazz at The Smith Center for the Performing Arts will present two concerts by acclaimed group Postmodern Jukebox on August 14, with both shows filmed and available for PBS stations across the country to schedule for broadcast in December 2017. With performances at 6 p.m. and 8:30 p.m., the show will feature highly talented artists.

Creating gramophone music for a smartphone world, Postmodern Jukebox has gone from viral sensation to worldwide phenomenon by putting pop music into a time machine. Led by gifted arranger Scott Bradlee, Postmodern Jukebox reimagines modern pop hits by the likes of Celine Dion, Beyoncé and Radiohead in the style of various yesteryears, from swing-era jazz to vintage soul to swinging-sixties orchestral pop. PBS will film the performances, to air later this year for millions of viewers.

The 2016 PBS Arts Fall Festival helped introduce The Smith Center to living rooms across America with the broadcast of critically acclaimed show "Alan Cumming Sings Sappy Songs," also filmed in Myron's Cabaret Jazz. Audiences can watch a rebroadcast of that concert event at 9 p.m. on Friday, August 25 on Vegas PBS Channel 10.

Since The Smith Center opened five years ago, Myron's Cabaret Jazz has become one of the top venues in the country to enjoy live performances up close. The intimate, 244-seat venue, located within the Boman Pavilion across from Reynolds Hall at The Smith Center, offers a rich variety of artists spanning jazz, pop, the best of Broadway and everything in between.

"Postmodern Jukebox: The New Classics" is a production of Bounce AEG and The Smith Center, with MyRon Martin as executive producer. Producers include Bounce's Tim Swift and Kristi Foley, with Leon Knoles directing.
