Dragon Age: Inquisition Wins Game of the Year, and More at First Game Awards

BioWare's DRAGON AGE: INQUISITION has become the first game to win Game of the Year.

On Friday, Dec. 5, the first Game Awards were held in Las Vegas, produced by Geoff Keighley. Other winners include Nintendo with Developer of the Year, as well as SUPER SMASH BROS winning Best Fighting Game, and MARIO KART 8 winning Best Sports Game and Best Family Game. Also, Yacht Club Games' SHOVEL KNIGHT won Best Independent Game.

Also producing were Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo, alongside Keighley, who was a driving force for Spike TV's recent "The Video Game Awards."

VALIENT HEARTS: THE GREAT WAR took home Best Narrative and Games for Change. Trey Parker beat out Kevin Spacey for Best Performance, the former of SOUTH PARK: THE STICK OF TRUTH, and the latter in CALL OF DUTY: ADVANCED WARFARE.

Best Remastered Game went to Rockstar Games for GRAND THEFT AUTO V. Best Action Adventure Title went to Warner Bros.' MIDDLE EARTH: SHADOW OF MORDOR, and FAR CRY 4 won Best Shooter over CALL OF DUTY, DESTINY, and TITANFALL.

Activision's DESTINY won Best Online Experience, as well as Best Score, and Most Anticipated Game went to THE WITCHER 3: WILD HUNT over BATMAN: ARKHAM KNIGHT, BLOODBORNE, EVOLVE, and UNCHARTED 4: THIEF'S END.
