The Kansas City Actors Theatre has announced its lineup of plays for 2016-2017 at City Stage in Union Station. This is the company's 12th season of productions showcasing Kansas City's own top theatre professionals.

Herb Gardner's Tony-nominated play, I'm Not Rappaport, kicks off the season in August, 2016 at Union Station. Dennis Hennessy, co-owner of The New Theatre Restaurant, directs. The cast features Victor Raider-Wexler, who recently starred in The Gin Game at Kansas City Actors Theatre, Granvile T. O'Neal, Cheryl Weaver, Mark Robbins, Amy Attaway, Matthew Lindblom and Logan Black. Inspired by two elderly men Gardner met in New York City's Central Park, the play explores society's treatment of the aged, the difficulties dealing with adult children who think they know what's best for their parents, and the dangers that lurk in urban areas.

Next up is Tennessee Williams' timeless masterpiece, A Streetcar Named Desire, which received the Pulitzer Prize for Drama in 1948. Sidonie Garrett, Executive Artistic Director for the Heart of America Shakespeare Festival, is scheduled to direct and Cinnamon Schultz will be featured as Blanche DuBois.

The season continues in January 2017 at Union Station with David Hare's 1996 Olivier Award winning play, Skylight. A play of opposing ideologies and mutual desires, Skylight features John Rensenhouse in the role of Tom Sergeant and is directed by Darren Sextro.

Closing out the season is The Realistic Joneses by Will Eno. "Funny and moving, wonderful and weird" (Charles Isherwood, The New York Times), this regional premiere will be directed by John Rensenhouse and features Jan Rogge and Brian Paulette.

Tickets will go on sale in April at kcactors.org.
