MTH Theater at Crown Center Announces 2017 A NIGHT ON THE TOWN Performance Series

In its third year, MTH expands the A Night on the Town performance series for 2017. The first edition is schedule for January 26-28 and will feature Kansas City Soprano Alison Sneegas Borberg.

ABOUT A NIGHT ON THE TOWN

A Night on the Town is an intimate cabaret experience exclusively crafted to highlight the performer and the performance space. A Night on the Town is an infusion of a nightclub show and theatrical experience. Enjoy an intimate solo performance at cabaret tables, while cocktail servers offer libations and light food throughout the evening. This truly unique and upscale theatrical experience allows the performer to share songs and personal stories in an intimate setting of less than 75 people per evening. The series was created to celebrate and honor the A Night on the Town radio program (produced and hosted by MTH founder, George Harter), which Musical Theater Heritage was founded upon.

The theatre is evocatively transformed into a unique speakeasy setting where 12 cocktail tables are placed on the stage and theatrical lighting is exchanged for handmade lighting fixtures crafted from foraged wine and spirits bottles. Table-side cocktail service is provided throughout the evening. A Night on the Town live performance series was conceived by Tim Scott. Scott also produces and directs the series. Musical Direction is provided by Jeremy Watson, with Joey Panella on Bass, Tod Barnard on Drums, and Matt Baldwin on Saxophone and Clarinet. The evocative lighting design for the series was conceived and designed by Shane Rowse.

Following the January engagement, The performance series continues March 3-5 and will feature the talents of acclaimed Kansas City baritone, Justin McCoy.

ABOUT THE PERFORMER

A lifetime resident of Kansas City, Alison Sneegas Borberg began performing in her living room with her mom at the piano. She quickly branched out to shows at Theater in the Park where her dad was the producer for 20 years. Alison received double degrees from Northwestern University where she studied all genres of music, from classical, musical theater to jazz. Alison has worked at the major theaters in town, with favorite shows including Side by Side by Sondheim, Cinderella, Into the Woods, Prudie, Pump Boys and Dinettes, Barb/Her, Romance, Romance, Sarah in Guys and Dollsand Mary in A Wonderful Life and dozens of cabarets at Quality Hill Playhouse, Musical Theater Heritage and her one woman show, A Night on the Town with Alison Borberg. In addition, she has been a featured soloist with the Kansas City Symphony and given a command performance for President Jimmy Carter. Alison enjoys performing but she is happiest when her family surrounds her. She is blessed daily by her talented husband, Dave, and their four children, Evan, Ryan, Anne, Brayden and their two big dogs. Of her upcoming show, Alison states, "My A Night on the Town performance in 2015 was a mountaintop artistic experience for me. There's nothing like the intimate atmosphere MTH has created while sharing songs and stories that mean the most to me with friends and family that are so dear. I am grateful to have the opportunity to do it again later this month!"

ABOUT MTH THEATER

MTH Theater at Crown Center is the professional theater in residence in the Crown Center Shops in Kansas City, Missouri. Specializing in concert-style productions of large scale musicals, MTH produces 150 performances annually, ranging from book musicals, to original revues, to cabaret shows. MTH was founded on the A Night on the Town radio series, a weekly radio show about the history of the American Musical, written and hosted by George Harter.
